1927 TRAIL 1927 gg H+ 45 13 A powerful offensiye combined with a marvelous defense wh1ch hurrled the Woodberry shots made the game never ln doubt Chalmers was outstandlng w1th 18 po1nts but the comblnatlon of Shlelds to Richards to Chalmers from the tipoff scoi ed time and time again Against Baltimore Poly Chalmers scored 17 points and this combined wlth the excellent play ing of his teammates enabled Tome to win by a 33 25 score Although Poly was never 1n the lead the game was replete with thrllls Wisniewski was Poly s star On the second of February Gilman came to Port Deposit to be defeated 34 27 Although Gilman held the lead for the first three quarters Tome came back the last quarter and ran up a lead of 7 points Shields Rlchards and Chalmers starred for Tome whlle Markel was exceptional for Gilman The next game with City was the big game of the year as they were leading the Maryland Scholastic League but Tome conquered them by the score of 32 20 At half time Tome had the comfortable margin of 20 6 Chalmers was agaln the highest scorer Tome won 1ts sex enth straight game when it defeated the Episcopal Hlgh team 34 22 Although slow in gettlng started the team play ed good basketball 1n the second half and easlly drew away fi om the opponents The Blue and White quintet emerged uctorxous from a tilt wlth Forest Park by the close score of 37 34 Seldom was there a Wlde margin between the two teams Rosenthal of Forest Park scored 20 po1nts wh1le Chalmers was outstandlng for Tome The first defeat of the season was received at the hands of our old rivals Gllman who downed us by the close score of 15 13 Tome held the lead untll the last mmutes of play when Gllman overcame them by a foul shot followed by a field goal Samuels was Gilman s bught light while Captain Chalmers again led the Tome score Swavely was easily defeated the followlng game by a score of 49 22 Shields was hlgh point scorer for Tome and Aman fox Sway ely In this game Tome made many substitutions Against Swarthmore Prep Tome was supieme This team was easily downed by the overwhelming score of 51 18 Shields again starred with Capta1n Chalmels close behmd in Qcorlng honors D1 Joseph and Saltzman played best for the opposing team In the final game of the season the fast Princeton Prep team was con quered 1n a haid fought game 41 26 Shlelds and Chalmers displayed wonderful form the former carrying off the honors Maher of Princeton Prep was highest point scorer of his team Tome now entered its victorious team ln the St John s Tourney at Annapolis as a post season affair and was put out in the first round by Devitt Prep of Washlngton winner of the tourney The final score was 26 19 Barkalow and Hutchison oy ercommg the Tome qumtet ln the final Pane 94 ,, .. ---- f .1-' - - --W Wl of .
