This year you will find the uD1'0SDOCt0l ' appearing on the cover as a graduating senior. Throughout the yearbook he is presented on the division pages as a personality significant of that part of the year- book. In this book the staff has tried to present a record of the affairs of TUHS for the year 1954-1955. It is the hope of the staff that The Prospector will be a reminder of the happenings in which you partici- pated during your school days at TUHS. 'J :J lltll l W UN Dedicalion At this desk is a man who, it might be said, is the very heart of the TUHS annual. It is Mr. Ben Ridge, teacher of the seventh grade. We could never thank him enough for the work which he has contributed to the high school annual. We speak of nothing else but the photography that makes an annual what it is. Not only did he take most of the pictures, but devel- oped, enlarged and printed them to the specifications which the staff desired. Mr, Ridge has contributed this service to the annual Staff for several years. The PROSPECTOR STAFF succeeded this year in publishing an annual considerably larger than in past years. Also much of the photography work was done in the new dark room with new photo- graphic equipment. All the work was done in the new publications room. The art work adds much to the book. The yearbook is always published by the Senior Class under the supervision of Miss Schaffer, publications advisor. The Wasp was praised by Pacific Slope School Press this year and the University of Arizona's Journalism Fraternity awarded the 1953-1954 Wasp a rating of good W . The FHA was very active this year under the leadership of Esther Montijo, the president. They held their annual Christmas Dance and Sweetheart Ball. Frances Rosen was elected District Chairman of Public Relations at the district meeting in Willcox. The FHA also sent ten Christmas CARE packages to men in Berlin, four of them in the Russian Sector. Members are stu- dents of the civics class. The F.B.I. is a civic minded organization, after having a big suc- cess by sponsoring a carnival, the proceeds were turned over to the cheerleaders for new sweaters. A huge success was the talent show the F.B.I. also sponsored. This show was an in- novation for TUHS and was enthusiastically received by townspeople and students. GLEE CLUB The Glee Club has worked hard this year under the direction of Mr. AT CANDLELIGHTED TEA Hayden. Included in their numerous activities have been three concerts, fall, winter and spring. In civic affairs the club appeared on a program for the Ladies Aid and for the Women's Club Annual Christ- mas Program, the Candlelight Tea. i The Glee Club always sings for the Baccalaureate Service and Grad- uation Exercises. FORMATION PEP RALLY x 1 3 h Q M A f. '-' 37 193 ss Q x J HONORS JAMES HALE was a delegate to Boys' State last year and was chosen for the Best All- Around title from the Senior Class. James has been president of the Letterman's Club, a band member, and has been very active in athletics and other school activities. PAULA MITCHELL was the school, and dis- trict oratorical contest winner, and placed fourth in the state. Paula is a new student here at Tombstone, but at Bisbee, she was on the honor roll and was in the Student Body play. WANDA JOHNSON is one of Tombstone High School's outstanding students. For three years now, Wanda has been at the head of the honor roll, missing it only once. This year, Wanda is secretary of the FHA and has always been active in this organization. and she is also student council representative from the Junior Class, ESTHER MONTIJO was a delegate to Girls' State last summer. Esther was chosen Best All-Around by the Senior Class and has been an officer in the GAA, FHA, class, Spanish Club, Student Body, WASP, and Annual Staff.
