FAREWELL TO THE SENIORS
To The Seniors:
It has been a priviledge and a pleasure to be advisor and friend to the 1949
graduating class of Tiro High School. The members of this class need only preserve
and continue their characteristic loyalty and co-operation to insure future success in
thier chosen fields of endeavor.
I hope, and feel, that the graduation exercise of 1949 need not be the end of a
pleasant association but that such association will continue in the years to come.
To the Senior Class of 1949, farewell, with the wish that each of you may en-
joy the best that the years may bring.
S uperintendent, Dale B . Kinney
We, the Junior C lass of 1949, in saying farewell to the Seniors, wish to ex-
press our appreciation of their companionship and friendliness in the years we have
gone to school with them.
They have filled an important place in the life and activities of this school.
We are proud of the record they have made and the example they have set for us to
follow. We sincerely rejoice with them in the achievement of a goal toward which
they have long been working.

- We girls didn't know what to do for the next three hours so we decided to get
our hair washed and set. We stopped at the first beauty parlor we came to. To our
amazement there was B etty Bevier, a beautician.
After we got our hair fixed we went shopping for some clothes of the type they
wear in Hawaii. To our surprise we saw Ruth Graham, a clerk in the Honolu1uFashion
Shop, a store that sells all kinds of clothing. By the time we got out of the store it was
time to get the car.
The car wasn't completely repaired when we got back but we waited because
they said it would take only a little while longer. When it was finished a young man
about twenty-seven who looked very familiar to me, drove it over to where Mr. Kinney
and we girls were standing. To our surprise it was Glenn Burkey, another old class-
mate from Tiro. We talked to Glenn for awhile and then went back to Mr. Kinney's
house for dinner.
That night after dinner was over Mr. Kinney took us to a Hula Hula dance. The
dance was very good but I thought I would never get over seeing Naomi Fried and
Eleanor Leonhart, their main guest, singing and doing the hula while the Hawiians played
That night Cordy and I decided we had better wire home for some money. The
first thing the next morning we were in for 'another surprise. The girl who sent the
telegram was Rose Steele, another classmate.
That night Naomi, Eleanor, Betty, Ross and his wife, Ruth, Rose, Glen. Marjorie,
Cordy, and I had a party at Mr. Kinney's house because Cordy, Marjorie, and I were
going back to C alifornia the next day. When we got to C alifornia, C ordy and I took the
first train back to Tiro. It surely felt good to get my feet back on home soil again.
