CLASS HISTORY School days! OnSeptember 7, 1936, school days started for twenty-four little i youngsters. Some would leave us and some would join our class, but we didn't worry about that because we were surveying our new surroundings. We greeted our first teacher, Miss Conagen, who was to be in charge of us. We were a little afraid at first but we soon got over that and got down to work learning our numbers and letters. Those who started the first year of school were: Glen Burky, Ross Eckstein. Naomi Fried, Marjorie B aker, Leland Sturnp, Leona Stump, C harles Magers, Marlin C ole, Cordelia Schiefer, and Ruth Graham. These people are still going to Tiro High School and are now preparing to graduate. The rest of the boys and girls who started that first year were: Donald Amstutz, Agnes Mitchell, Jacqualine Auck, Norma Cole. W inigene C line, Georgene B ruce , Mary B uck, C lara S imons , Phyllis C ole , Harold Johnson, Junior Rheinbolt, John Rank, Keith C lawson, and B ill Burns. Those who left the same year were Jacqualine Auck, John Rank, and Harold Johnson. In the second grade no one joined us but C laraSimons left. Our teacher was l Miss Nancy McMahon. The third grade saw Betty B evier enter and Winigene Cline and Agnes Mitchell leave. Our teacher was Miss Mathews. We had a busy fourth year when Walter Haga. Helen Buck, Deloris Hopkins. and Helen Fagan entered and Norma Cole, Mary B uck, Helen B uck, Georgene B ruce. and Donald Amstutz left us. Our instructer for this year was Miss Cruea. In the fifth year Mrs. Stone was our teacher. Phyllis Cole and B ill Burns left us and Mary Johnson joined our class. For our last year down stairs we had Mrs. Stone for teacher. Mary Johnson left after being in our school a little more than a year. By this time we were beginning to feel big because we were going up stairs in the fall. Happily we climbed the stairs to the seventh grade, feeling very grown-up. Until she became ill, our sponsor was Miss Bauer. Mrs. Miller was our teacher for the rest of the year. At the beginning of the school year Robert Williams entered from Plymouth, Rose Steele from North Robinson and Olin Davis from Shilon. Later Florence Auck entered from New Washington. Walter Haga left during the latter part of the year. Our eighth grade sponsor was Miss Frisch. Robert Williams and Olin Davis left our class during this year. Deloris Hopkins moved to Sulphur Springs. Franklin Zorns and Keith C lawson each moved to New Washington. We began our first year of high school with the following: Ruth Graham. C ordelia Schiefer, Naomi Fried, Helen F agan, B etty B evier, Florence Auck. Leona Sturnp, Leland Stump, Glen Burky, Kenneth Pfahler. Rose Steele, Ross Eckstein. C harles Magers, Charles Studer, Albert Miller, Junior Rheinbolt.Hazi1Lohr. Marlin Cole, and Marjorie Baker. We were initiated by the Sophomores, during this. our Freshman Year. As our class sponsor for the year, we had Miss Carpenter. 10
