And there are those who give not for recognition, not considering how much or how little they have — but because giving is an essential part of their being. Charlie was such a man. He gave selflessly. He gave much to many. He will long be remembered by all of us. 68 earns Row I: B. Scott. M. Webb Row 2: J. teRiele. D. Olcott. P. Harrington. D. Dickerson. S. Trudeau. S. Donovan. Fish 74 Cristina with the Barrons 5 S 5 k t i e i r n s 8 $ Tom Being a AFS student is a wonderful experience, even though it is a difficult one. In fact, to leave your family, your country and all your friends and go to live with a family that you have never seen before, in a strange country with strange people, who talk a different language, is not easy at all. believe me. But these aren't the only differences for me. I live in a city of 400.000 people, where the lowest temperature is twenty degrees above zero, and where you can see only a couple of inches of snow for one day during the year. To come to Ti, a small town surrounded by mountains where you measure the snow not by inches but by feet, and the temperature is always twenty degrees below zero, so that the lake is frozen, is quite different. I have never seen a frozen lake before, and I always thought that ice-fishing could be practiced only at the North Pole. I was really surprised when I saw Lake George all covered by ice. The first thing I thought was that it must be wonderful to have a whole lake for skating. The most different thing from the Italian way of life is school. In Italy, we go to school for six days a week — Monday to Saturday. Our schools have no such thing as lockers or cafeterias, we don't have to change classrooms every period) we stay in one classroom and the teachers come to us. The first days of changing class confused me a little, and sometimes I went around the school without knowing where I was. Now I don't have these problems anymore. The strange people who once talked a foreign language are my family, and my friends, and this little cold town is the place where I live, and I shall always remember this year spent with you as the best in my life ... 75 STUDENT GOV’T FRONT: K.
