CARILLON 1970 Ticonderoga High School Tichonderoga, New York Co-editors Alan Forgette Kathy Morette DEDICATION We, the Class of 1970, would like to dedicate our yearbook. The Carillon, to the following men: We would like to express our best wishes to Mr. Russel, who is leaving the Ticonderoga High School faculty at the close of this school year. Althought Mr. Marshall is now teaching at another school, we would like to express our appreciation for his guidance in our freshman and sophomore years. We would like to express our warmest thanks to Mr. Cembalski who helped us through our junior and senior years with patience and understanding. May we say, “Thank you, Mr. McCarthy, for your time and guidance in helping us compile this yearbook. 2 CONTENTS Foreword ............................ 4 Administrator ....................... 5 Faculty ............................. 9 Clubs .............................. 19 Seniors .............................25 Activities ......................... 57 Sports ............................. 75 Underclassmen ...................... 87 3 FOREWORD TRY TO REMEMBER THAT KIND OF SEPTEMBER . The carefree days of summer were forgotten as. we plunged into the regularity of school. Goals were set amidst the chaos of this change. WHEN LIFE WAS SLOW . . . But soon we accustomed ourselves to the routine and set our pace according to our surroundings. WHEN NO ONE WEPT . . . There is nothing more satisfying in life than moments of unexpected pleasure. WHEN DREAMS WERE KEPT . . . He whom a dream hath possessed knoweth no more of doubting . . . and never comes darkness down, but he greeteth a million morns. WHEN FRIENDSHIP WAS AN EMBER ABOUT TO BILLOW . . . Each person has some goal in life; he need only strive to acquire it. If his search be successful, the treasure is his reward; if it should prove fruitless, the loss is his mistake. So too with friendship. TRY TO REMEMBER . . . jubilant cheers of victory moments of defeat rewarding friendships hours of study for tedious exams pride in accomplishments AND IF YOU REMEMBER THEN FOLLOW. Each of us must pursue his own calling, yet we remain as one through memories that bind us together. ADMINISTRATION BOARD OF EDUCATION Mr. Campbell Secretaries LANGUAGES Mrs. Frost Mme. STUDENT COUNCIL New determination and new ideas were introduced into the Student Council this year under the guidance of Mr. Charles Royce and the inspiration of Mr. |ohn Herbert. With the change in school administration came many changes in our school life. Some of these were brought about through the Student Council. Under its sponsorship, an honors study hall for seniors was established. With encouragement from all, we seniors strove to make this privilege a success. Another achievement was the acceptance of the class ring of the last two years as the permanent school ring of Ticonderoga High School. As the role of a Student Council Member increased in responsibility, more thought was given to the requirements of membership. An amendment was drawn up whereby members who fail to meet these standards may be expelled from the Council. During the years, misunderstandings have occurred between the school board and the students. One of the greatest accomplishments of the Student Council was the addition of two Student Council members to the board of education in an advisory position. We hope that through this and other actions of the Student Council, student and teacher may work together to achieve understanding and co-operation.
