Clerks Cooks Custodians SENIORS Class History We, the Class of '64, have many fond memories of our four years of high school. Although we will always remember our hours of homework and cramming for tests with a groan, there were also many moments of achievement to look back upon with pride. In September, I960, our class, under the guidance of Miss Elisabeth Simpkins, began the first of our four years in high school. We elected for our first class officers: Richard Bartlett, president; Janice Middleton, vice president; Stephen Boyce, treasurer; and Susan Price, secretary. Teachers, parents, and students alike enjoyed the excellent spaghetti served at our Freshman class supper. Our major fund-raising activities were the Christmas card sales and our first record hop, which was held in December. The biggest thrill of all during this year was the acquisition of our class pins. The sophomore year began with the electing of our new class officers. Richard Bartlett was re-elected president, Stephen Boyce, vice president; Mary Ann Wallace, treasurer; and Janice Middleton, secretary. We had a very successful class supper with spaghetti again as the main dish. In order to raise money, we held two record hops, sold cards and knives, and collected coat hangers and bottles. Our junior year was both exciting and rewarding. Our class officers were Peter Connery, president; Stephen Boyce, vice president; Mary Ann Wallace, treasurer; and Hilary Cooper, secretary. Under their guidance, the class set out upon the arduous tasks of selecting our class rings and planning the 1963 Junior Prom. Everyone anxiously awaited the day that we would finally wear the beautiful rings that the ring committee had picked out. The Junior Prom was a beautifully decorated affair with ’’Moon River” as the theme. Mary Ann Wallace was chosen to reign as our queen. The lovely decorations, the girls' colorful dresses, and the dreamy music furnished by the Earl Kent Quintet made ours a prom long to be remembered. Another memorable achievement of our junior year was our presentation of the Junior Plays. Miss Elisabeth Simpkins directed EVERYTHING NICE-Mrs. Richard Carney, SORRY, WRONG NUMBER; and Mr. Arthur Moore A WELL-REMEMBERED VOICE. And then, at last, it was our senior year. We chose as officers to lead us in our final year: Richard Bartlett, Mary Ann Wallace, Marianne Forsythe, and Janice Middleton as president, vice president, treasurer, and secretary, respectively. Our class supper of roast beef was a delicious meal enjoyed by all. Our major endeavors were concerned with raising much-needed money to finance our class trip to the World's Fair in New York City. The yearbook staff was chosen and published the 1964 edition of the Carillon. Our Senior Play, THE MOUSE THAT ROARED, under the direction of Mr. William Sola, was acclaimed by everyone as a great success. We look toward graduation with mixed feelings, as we will miss our classmates, but we are anxious to set out into the world, too. Now that our high school years are but fond memories, we can earnestly say that we have enjoyed almost every moment of them. We owe Miss Simpkins much gratitude for her sacrifices and much-needed counsel throughout our years as students here. Also, we would like to say, thank you” to everyone who contributed toward making our years enjoyable and profitable. 12 Richard Bartlett Ricky Football 1, 2, 3, 4 Basketball 1, 2, 3, 4 Baseball 1, 2, 3, 4 Track 3, 4 Class President 1,2,4 Language Club 2, 3, 4 President 3 Junior Plays Prom Committee Student Council 1,2, 3, 4 Ring Committee Sociology Psychology Mary Ann Wallace Mary Ann Cheerleading 1,2, 3, 4 J . The many members of the class of 1964 have dispersed in several directions. Former students are not only pursuing many different occupations, but are to be found in all the remote corners of the earth. The famous editor, Patsy Carney, with a competent staff of reporters consisting of Danny Crossman and Sharon Martin, is circling the globe to interview all of her former classmates. Before leaving New York City, the group speaks with the members of Stanley Gilmore's band. Connie Moore, that new and popular singer, is also in New York for a recording session. Shirley O'Dell and Francine Dion are private secretaries for important business executives. After an enjoyable trip across the Atlantic in a plane flown by Bill Rooker, ably assisted by co-pilot B. J . Lamica and stewardess Dianne Stanley, they visit Pete Gibbard, who is building a bridge in Scotland with his helpers, Gary De Lorme, Bill LaTour, and Skipper Thompson. Bill Arthur has spent the past twelve years in the famous bagpipe band of Glasgow. Reuben'' Wardell has a flourishing business as chiropractor for the Queen of England. In France, Noel Pelletier and Milt Malaney are producing a movie with Bruce Pulling as their director. This new film is based on the life of Minnie Wallace, the United States' first lady astronaut. Also, in Paris, they see Dorit Katzenstein, who is employed teaching driver education to a distinguished young lawyer. And then to Rome, where they pause to watch Roger Alteri win an Olympic gold medal. In the audience they spy Jill Vickers. In deepest Africa, the reporters come upon Hilary Cooper and Dee Anne Davidson nursing the sick natives in a hospital under the supervision of Drs. Michael Keegan and George Char-boneau. Susan Price is the art therapist here. Farther on, in Leopoldville, they happen upon an espionage agent, Carol Morin, who is busy tracking down the comrr nist spies infiltrating that poverty-ridden nation. Carol's co-workers in this massive job are: Lorraine Bevins, Rita Dedrick, Larry LaDuc, and Bruce Quesnel. Farther north, Janice Middleton, a renowned Egyptologist, has just finished excavating the tombs of sacred crocodiles, where she found many ancient and valuable treasures. In Saudi Arabia, the group is entertained by two sheiks and their harems of dancing girls. These sheiks, Terry Varmette and John Russell, are easily the richest men on earth, due to their over-flowing oil wells. The ambassador to India, Joe King, along with his assistant, Jeanne Pearson, and secretary, Carol Murray, leads the group on a tour of the temples in New Delhi. In the course of their tour, they meet Jim Craig feeding a sacred cow. The next land visited is South Viet Nam. The West Point graduate, Gen. Ricky Bartlett, is busy trying to preserve peace in that war-torn land. He seems quite grateful to Dick Allen, who has made some much-needed improvements on his Jeep. Meanwhile, in Saigon, Marianne Forsythe is 33 working for the Red Cross helping those wounded in battle. From here, the group moves on to Australia where Mr. and Mrs. Dane Blood (Laura Huestis), manage a sheep station. Another classmate living down under is Chris Morton. She and Tom Provoncha each has set up airplane factories in Melbourne. In Japan, they find Walt Chapleau and Ben Stanilka teaching judo to servicemen, including Bill Frazier and Dickie Gunning. An interesting side trip takes them to see the geisha girls. A surprise is in store for them when they discover Linda Busby among them. On to the jungles of Brazil, where Jim Cooke is cultivating a forest of rubber trees. Also in Brazil, the reporters come upon John Lockwood and Mike Brannock water skiing on the Amazon. Patsy and her staff next fly to Alaska to interview Pete Atchinson, who owns a large, rich gold mine. They next stop off in Vancouver to hear Dave Trombley's Dance Band in which Bill Grinnell plays percussion, at one of the city's more stately ballrooms. Back in continental U . S., they next meet Arnold Crammond, a rancher in the West. Mike Ryan and Pat Armstrong are raising apples in Washington State. Our roving reporters are surprised to encounter Dr. Ben Leerkes and Professor Rickie Leerkes, mathematicians at the University of California. Pat Kilbourn is coaching the surfing team at Stanford. Bobbie Kolysko now owns a ski resort at Aspen, Colorado, where Cheryl Chupak sings nightly in the lodge. They find Peter Wright and Teddy Rowe chiselling new faces in the Black Hills. Chicago is very proud of its nuclear physicist, Peter Le Vangia, and his new bomb. Down in sunny Florida, John Bevilacqua is operating an exclusive Miami Beach motel, designed by the architect, Widget Royce. The motel is famous for its novel circular shape. In Georgia, they stop in to see successful cotton king Norman Trudeau. Doreen Witherbee is raising tobacco there. In the Ozarks, Cindy Whit-ford is Doing What Comes Naturally. Jackie McKeown and Shirley Bishop are doing well as secretaries to a famous senator from Arizona. Susan Oetken, president of Saturnational Paper Company, is living in Maine. In Washington, Steve Boyce, Secretary of State, has made quite a reputation for himself by teaching smaller nations what comes first. Also, in Washington, the political scientist, Sally Tefft, reads portions of her new book, POLITICS MADE SIMPLE, to Patsy's reporters. As previously planned the tour ends with an interview with our most distinguished classmate . The reporters are privileged to confer with our President, Peter Connery, who, fulfilling his lifelong ambitions, has gained control of the nation by a successful coup d'etat. President Connery, who is very pleased to see his former classmates, graciously gives them a personal tour around his heavily fortified home at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. Thus ends the trip. It has been wonderful for all the reporters to see their old friends again and to learn how well they all have done. I'm sure all will be proud and happy to read the articles resulting from the trip.
