CartlUn JMma JfHater O' Alma Mater Ti High School For thee our voices ring, For thee we strive to do our best, To thee all praise we bring. Let’s give a cheer for dear Ti High, And never let it end, And when our thoughts begin to roam, To Ti High let them bend. Class Historg In the year 1958 a very extraordinary group of freshmen entered the halls of Ticonderoga High. Although verdant , we teenagers, led by Miss Cook, soon made ourselves widely known in various ways. The main cause of excitement in our freshman year was the purchase of our class pins. Then the tempo increased, we presented the freshman supper, our first record hop, and several sales activities. With the success of our freshman year, we felt better prepared for our sophomore season. Our Sophomore Twirp Dance started the year off with a bang! The girls soon found out what boys go through when asking for dates. The dance was a huge success and everyone had a wonderful, time. Later in the year there were the class supper, another record hop, food sales and other sales projects. By the end of the year, we rusty sophomores had lost our awkwardness and. surprisingly enough, become ladies and gentlemen. Our third year came on speedy wings and we were Jolly Juniors. This was probably the most awaited year of those mentioned, for three great events took place. Our class rings, which were different from those of previous classes, shone so brightly that everyone walked around with spots in front of his eyes for at least two months after the acquisition. In a novel undertaking, we staged three successful plays, namely: The Private Lives of the Master Race, Thank you Doctor, and Hillbilly Hi Jinks, which were directed by Miss Linsert, Mr. Sola, and Mrs. Carney. An exceptional junior prom was given. It was beautifully decorated in pink and green, with apple blossom trees situated in various parts of the cafeteria. Eileen Bourgeous was the radiant queen of our Apple Blossom Time. During this year we initiated the idea of selling food at the football games. This was one of our major money-making projects. Intertwined among these events was the sale of Christmas cards, sweatshirts and food. Also, another record hop was held. To end our junior year we were awarded with the keys to the senior candy room. Since the sale of candy lasts all year, we knew it would be one of the contributing factors to our senior trip. At the beginning of the new term, we members of the class of '62 found ourselves the honored occupants of the senior rooms. We immediately entered upon the round of duties and pleasures which is the seniors' share. During this year we worked especially hard to bring in as much money as we could toward our class trip to Washington, D.C. We held record hops, and sold magazines, Christmas cards and food. The senior play contributed greatly to our efforts. Duties and pleasures still loom up in the future. But the members of this class of 1962 can say, We have reached our first goal. We have conquered the things which seemed unconquerable; we have won. MISS VERA COOK It is with deep and sincere appreciation that we, the class of 1962, dedicate the Carillon to Miss Vera Cook, who has willingly given her time and self to lead us through these four years. Our class advisor is highly respected by students and faculty. MR. ARTHUR MOORE The Class of 1962 wishes to express its gratitude to Mr. Arthur Moore for the time and effort he has devoted towards making this Carillon a success. We are indeed indebted to him. A new group of people had been selected by the Peace Corps to venture into the darkest jungles of Africa. Flying for the first time, these daring souls put their invaluable lives in the capable hands of the pilot, Jan Good, and the co-pilot. Bob Osier. The stewardesses, Kathy Martens, Irene Treadway, and Carol Bush busily handed out air-sick pills. Somehow the navigator. Chuck Whitcomb, mischarted the course and the plane landed in Hawaii. Four girl passengers, Norma Vannier, Linda Spring, Esther Blanchard, and Ruth Moore enjoyed Hawaii and decided to stay and give ukulele lessons. They obligingly gave us a sample of their work. After seeing their performance, Don Gregory and Tom McKeown informed us that they would remain on the island. We were told that Judy Abare and Don Cook were now operating a very fashionable restaurant. After tasting their delicious cuisine, we continued our trip to Africa. Upon arriving we were warmly greeted by the well known jungle explorer, Butch Denno. He had several of his associates with him. Among them were Joan O'Dell, Vince Scuderi, Bernice Hopkins, and Bill Bain. Also Leon Catlin, the noted doctor accompanied them. The Corps' first assignment was to aid the sick. Doctors Chuck DeLorme and Jim Zambardino began wiping out disease. Sara Aunchman and Lynda Tobin, the chief nurses, were faithfully at their sides. Meanwhile, out in the street, we could hear music. Don Wolcott, a snake charmer, was charming snakes. He was accompanied by Dannae Spring on the drums and Alan Trombley on the clarinet. This trip had to break up when Ann Ryan came tearing through the street leading a herd of elephants. While all this was going on, Craig Lonergan, Steve Smith and Russell Hurlburt were intently drawing up plans for a dam soon to be built by Leon McKeown and his crew, John Armstrong, John Porter, and Dick Varmette. Dean Cook and his men, John Goodrow, Ray Thatcher, and Herb Backus had been laboring on the roads. In the evening, Sylvia Smith, Jane Shaw and Pat Vradenburg prepared an exotic meal. During the meal Pat Viglotti, Eileen Bourgeous, and Nancy Ferguson displayed the beautiful headdresses that were given to them by the chiefs of the tribes. Then Stephanie Abbott gave an interesting lecture on the dangerous insects of the jungle. The highlight of the evening occurred when some expert dancers, Dorothy Forbes, Sharon Fleming, and Diane Brown performed for us. They were accompanied by Carol Chupak singing Mack the Knife. All credit was due to their choreographer, Sanford Morehouse. After singing Good Night Ladies, led by Kent Nichols, the group broke up. Bright and early the next morning we were awakened by Pat Shults' fabulous imitations of jungle birds. While Gloria Mattison and Sharon Martin straightened the huts, Carol Martin repaired the thatched roof. It seems that Dick Drinkwine was pretty upset after waking up in a bed of water. Sue Bright and Shirley Arthur, brilliant mathematicians, estimated that we would need at least three hundred pounds of rubber for the tires of the jeeps. So Francis McCarthy and Dick Liddell were immediately instructed to start tapping the rubber trees. They employed the aid of two strong men, Bob Bartlett and Jerry Charboneau. As these stalwart men were going about their duties, they could see Barbara Goodroe training some monkeys under the big shade trees. Dick Harris was setting up his camera equipment and preparing to take pictures to send home. Out of the clear blue sky, like an angel from heaven, appeared Sharon Geiser and Carol Stanley, carrying trays of liquid refreshment for the weary workers. So goes the everyday work of the Peace Corps. We wish them all the luck in the world and continued success in their efforts towards world peace. 20 junior (Elass (Officers LEON CATLIN Vice-President Academic Lee Football 1,2,3,4; Basketball 1,2,3,4; Secretary 3; Vice-President 4; Prom Committee; Junior Plays; Latin Club 2,3; Ring Committee; Yearbook Staff.
