Class Prophecy As I-float along on my fluffy blue cloud with Hugo, I can gaze into the future. If you are wondering who Hugo is, he's my loyal and dependable crystal ball. Traveling over lakes, hills, and cities, Hugo and I can see more than most people see. As I look into his smiling crystal-like face, I see many of my old friends. The first person I see in my crystal ball is Eugene Manley. Gene now runs a candy store of his own. Margaret Beaudin works for him and eats up a great many of his profits. He tells me that Jean Gauger runs a fashionable dress shop next door. Irene Isabel 1 models for Jean’s customers. All of a sudden there is a great commotion. Down the street cones a big parade with Chuck Blanchard as drum major. The parade is in honor of that great professional football star vui Nadeau. In the car with Norm is his manager, Ed Vosberg. Afte parade Norm tells me that Tom Gunning and Jerry O'Connor are big nu. i football. He also tells me that Dick Jonnors uullds and races sport .as. After the parade I decided to take a walk down main street to window shop. As I pass a televisor store, I see a familiar face on one of the T. V. screens. All of a sudden I recall that it is the face of Bob Wikstrom. Bob now does a comedy show under the name of Robert Q. Wikstrom. Grace Fuller and Sheila Clark, owners of a large baby food business, sponsor his show. From the commercials it seems that they are making big profits. As 1 walk on down the street, I come upon a big nightclub. The billboard in .'ront of the club advertises John Hamilton and his band. Because John was in my class, I decided to go in r.d say hello. The band is rehearsing with the vocalist. The singer .u ns out to be Nancy Lamb, an old friend of mine. Nancy tells me that Barney Brock is the owner of the club and Bill Hanchett is head waiter. She makes me promise to return that night to see the show. When I do return that night, I see many of my old class mates. Paul Gallant is there and he tells me that he is a child doctor and that Barbara Davidson is his nurse. Pete Vanderwarker is there with his wife, Carol Noel. Carol tells me that Dave Lonergan is a history professor at Vassar. She also tells me that Dorcey Thatcher is head of a big shipping line. Ronnie Hughes is the captain of one of her ships and Kathv Thatcher is the social and athletic director on the same ship, ■'ete ‘ .11s me that Gerry Crammond is with the F. B. I., and Sue Morton is his stenocrapher. My friends tell me that Bud V isell has joined the Navy and has a nirl in every port. Betty Jean Grinnell and Joan Maxwell run a driving school. Now 1 see Elliot Shaw is running a big power plant in Russia and Pat Bougor is his interpreter. Bob Cawley Is a professor of English at Trinity College in Vermont. After hearing about or seeing many of my friends, it seems that t e face of Milly Ladd is missing. When I ask my friends about Mllly, they tell me that she is a mad chemist, and has shut herself off from the rest of the world to experiment. All of a sudden my crystal ball turns black and I can see no more. My visions of my friends have faded, and I can do nothing but float along among the clouds with Hugo. 20 Barbara Spring
