Class Prophecy 120 years after Graduationl Having just completed the third day of a very difficult trial, in which I, Paula Gibbs, was the defending attorney, I drank a glass of warm milk and fell into a deep slumber. I dreamed I was in a peaceful meadow gazing into a pool of clear water. One by one, the faces of my classmates appeared before me in the water. The first face to appear was that of Sally Clark. She is a hapnlly married housewife. Bernetta Brock is, too, and that did not surprise me. However, several of the others were more surprising. Then the face of Ken Phelps appeared. He declared he was a politician and Kathy Duquette his secretary. Several of our class have been very successful in their chosen fields. Mary Jane Lester is a famous heart specialist and Ruth King ls her secretary. The next face that appeared was Billy Benway's. He now runs a factory which manufactures footballs. James Edward Clark, nClarkien is his best customer because he coaches a pro-football team. The face of Emmetta Gonyea came on the water, telling that she is in Arizona raising horses. Recently she took Maureen McLaughlin into partnership. This farm received a write up in Joyce McLaughlln's column ln the Albany Times Union. Next appeared to me the WAC enlistments of the nClass of 'S6,N Barbara Coley, Jean Mckeown, and Patty Connors. Also appeared the faces of the boys who had either enlisted or been drafted into the armed forces. John Thompson and Dlck Arthur are making the Marines their career, and Pat Donovan and Jim Morin are doing the same in the Air Force. Clearly ln this pool I could see the face of Dick Wright. He plays the sax ln a New York City night club. The nurse corps gained two valuable people from our class, Dawn Sharrow and Anne Thompson. The face of Donna Shaw came to my misty eyes. She recently had an accident while trying out her new sports car. Fortunately she recovered and did not require the services of Bud Miner, the town undertaker. Two faces ln the pool startled me. Those were of the boys who have gone to work in the paper mill, Howard Trudeau and Stephen Armstrong. Howard repairs faucets ln the Wash rooms and Steve is chauffeur for the bosses. Patty Brown's face came into the pool next. It told me she ls a lab technician ln New York City. Don Johnson couldn't leave Streetroadg he is now running his fatherls business. Bitsey LaPolnte has achieved great fame as a trouble-shooter for the government. The next faces which appeared dimly were those of the teachers from our class: Gerry Wolcott, Joe Malaney, and Jane Burleigh. Gerry teaches American History Xl and XII ln Tlconderoga, Joe heads the choir of Syracuse University, and Jane teaches languages in Hollywood High School. Fred La Pann now coaches Tlconderoga Hlgh's basketball team. Doris Carpenter, true to her plans ln high school, did attend an undertaking school. She dldn't stay through to flnlsh her course because she married one of the undertaking instructors of the school. So we narrowly missed having two undertakers in our class. The face of Donald Porter appeared telling me that he has taken over his father's business. Barbara Gljanto and Don Johnson are a happily married couple, parents of three boys. Albert Thompson runs a farm now. The last face that appeared was not too clear but I re- cognized lt as that of Marjorie Wisell. She told me had taken over Mrs. Ash's place after the latter had Then all there was before me was a pool, followed by I was awakened by the alarm clock and rose, prepared day, but no longer worried about my classmates. 29 that she retired. blackness. for another
