During the year we held a food sale and a turkey raffle. We also started to sell scarves and T-shirts. We also held our class supper. We began our Sophomore year with few r members in our organization. In November, we held our traditional Twirp Dance. In an effort to raise money for the Senior Tri , we sold stockings and the remaining T-shirts. There was also a turkey raffle and Spanish rice was the main dish of our class supper. The class officers for the year were: Marilyn Kalland, President; Tom Burleigh, Vice President; Sheila Badger, Treasurer; and Tom Dreimiller, Secretary. The third year came with the Junior class selling pencils, memory books, book covers, and stickers. Then the time for the long-awaited class rings. The Juniors preserted three one act plays. They were Two Crooks and a Lady1', directed by Mifs..S®lleck; Betty's Bargain , directed by Miss Simpkins; and Ghost Farm under the direction of Mr. Burroughs and Mr. Harris. We also held the annual class supper; this year spaghetti was the main dish. Our officers were: Sue Whan, President; Mary Cioppa, Vice President; Sheila Badger, Treasurer; and Tom Dreimiller, Secretary. Our Junior Prom displayed the class colors of blue and gold and the class flower, the white carnation. The theme of the prom decorations was a county fair. Sheila Badger was chosen queen. We learn not for school, but for life was selected at this time as our motto. At last we, now only 33 of us, came to our senior year. Mary Cioppa was elected resident; Tom Burleigh, Vice President; Marilyn Kalland, Treasurer; and Pat Foley as Secretary. Whitehall, who later became champions of the Northern Conference, proved to be too much for our inexperienced team and gained a 31 to 7 victory. On the following Saturday, Ticonderoga clashed against Plattsburgh High and suffered a 32 to 7 set-back. Experience and lack of reserves hindered our team severely in this opening league game. The Port Henry game found both teams evenly matched and proved to be a thriller. We let what looked like an initial victory slip through our fingers by losing 19 to 13. At Lake Placid, an unusually strong Northwood Prep team surprised us and gave us a 33 to 7 licking. On the following Saturday we played our best game against Lake Placid. Out-weighed but not out spirited, we grabbed an early lead but lost it late in the game. This game nroved that we could win even though out-manned. The M.A.I. team, champion of our league, displayed their superior abilities by trouncing us k? to 0. After a postponed game with St. Johns, we traveled to Mineville for our final game. With Earl Betts furnishing three touchdowns behind the teeth shattering blocking and tackling of John Coley and Ed Wiley, we gained our first win by a 20 to 13 score. 70 O• K- CoclcU 71 Kneeling-left to right: Jack Huestis, Jimmy Cruickshank, Kenneth Hurlhurt Standing-left to right: John Hero, Dominic Paniccia, Joe Dreimiller, Pat Arthur, John Coley, Fred Stull, Coach Degutis, Howard Schryer, Jack Croto, George Trudeau, Tom Burleigh, Earl Betts, Dick Trudeau 72 The 1951-52 basketball team, hindered by losses of most of last year’s team, were not too successful in the winning column. Playing against veteran squads, the Sentinel’s inexperienced quintet failed to win but three games. In the latter part of the season, Ticonderoga improved considerably, almost upsetting Burlington High, a strong Vermont club, and suceeding in defeating their top rival, Port Henry, 39-38.
