16 4 OI OI Division, Tico's radarmen are tasked with the responsibility of operating the Combat Information Center QCICJ. CIC is the central nervous system of each ship, particularly on a carrier with its primary mission of sub-hunting. Four primary cate- gories: collection, display, evaluation and dissemination, separate the intelligence information which enters CIC. Collection is described as data necessary for the ships mission that is gathered in various ways, some of which are Blip Wilson at his radar console, Fran Talkington with the help of radiotelephone systems and Mike Cyclops and his alert lookouts. Once collected, this information is processed and formed into the second step of a radarman's work. The following step, display, is where all of the gathered information is made avail- able for people to see by means of lighted status boards and grease pens following years of tradition, just as it was done back in World War II. Once information has been displayed it is available to enter its final two steps, evaluation and dissemination. Currently led by CDR. JE. Dancing Bear Whittier, Tico's evaluator staff of Lieutenants Burt Midnight Cowboy Fike and Wild Bill Bellhop Brooks, are constantly on hand to decide which of the collected information is actually a submarine contact and not two California grey whales on the ocean's floor. Once this important decision is made, the evaluation is passed to flag plot the captain, or the wastebasket at their side, thus completing the process of CIC's responsibilities.
