lil V-4 As a division of the Air Department, V-4 or the Aviation Fuels Division is responsi- ble for the upkeep of the carrier aviation fuels and lube oil system. Their duties include servicing of embarked aircraft with uncontaminated fuel, both ,IP-5 and aviation gaso- line, plus aviation lube oil at the flight and hangar deck levels and the replenishment of the ships supply of aviation fuels and lube oil. Also included in this division is the aviation fuels repair crew whose primary concern is the safety and material condition of the aviation fuel system. V-4 Division contributed to the effectiveness of the recent cruise and the mission of the Ticonderoga by providing fuel, whenever needed, for the aircraft of CAG-59 and for the Navy distillant burning destroyer, USS Schofield fDEG-32 which accompanied Tico on its cruise.
