Julie Hapner, Angie Cosley, Suzy Newman, and Richard Pietrofeso show the different styles, shapes, and colors. 'Q 7 By Jill Russell Fashions of the 82-83 school year varied a great deal. Different styles and fads were seen all over campus. It was a year where students fought for identity through what they wore. New Wave consisted of miniskirts, checkers, polkadots, punk glasses, and cropped hair. This style went hand in hand with music performed by The Go's Go's, Destroyers and many other bands. The surfer look really hit big. Plaid burmuda shorts, long-sleeved t-shirts, vans, and varne sunglasses were some of the many different styles. Bandanas were used to accent a lot of wardrobes. They were found tied around necks, legs, arms and also used for headbands. The preppy look, carried out from the previous year, got a little more in detail. Oxfords were worn with thin ties along with knickers and pleated pants worn with the traditional topsiders. Throughout the year, fashions altered and styles were seen of wide variety, practically anything was ac- ceptable worn by the students. 2:2 ::::g:g:,:-:::,-:::-:- 1 :-:-351 -E:2:51E:SE2f-CBFJ V 'dp' :-:-:-:-:'4-:f z 5'-:-.-'C -:-:-:-ai:-:-c-'c - O.P. and Brittania are brands seen all over campus. The Runner Stumbles by Milan Stitt, is a murder mystery set in the early 1900's. Based on an actual trial in Solon Michigan, the story involves many scenes which include flashbacks by the main character. Father Rivard tportrayed by Harry Sokoll is a young, ambitious priest assigned to a small parish so that he may write a book for the Bishop. He is later joined by Sister Rita tportrayed by Karla Jonesl a teacher, so that she can take over the teaching because the other two teachers Mrs. McSpadden discusses the program design with Debbie Duhamell. fphoto by Joel Laurinj Steve Marchal helps Ellen Roedel learn her lines. 64 Fall Play have become ill. To keep the Sister from being exposed to the illness, she moves into the rectory and many problems begin. Finally, Father Rivard leaves the parish and Sister Rita is murdered. Rivard is then brought to trial and the mystery is resolved. This play was chosen to depict the talent of the students at Thunderbird, commented Director Mrs. McSpadden, And was not meant to offend any religious sect. lt was a very challenging show directing and acting-wise and just adds another dimension to Thunderbird's versa- tile theatre department. Cathy Voss was Assistant to the Director and Laura Kello was the stage manager. All the scene changes were done mainly with lights and the actors steps. That made this play very difficult, technically. commented Laura Kello. Performances were held No- vember 18, 19, and 20 in the audi- torium. , . Thunder volunteer staff works hard The volunteer staff of Thunder works long hours after school to complete dummies, taking pictures, developing, writing captions, and copy. All are necessities in putting together a yearbook. With only two people with previous experience, all the staff work together to keep up hopes and morale. A tremendous amount of hard work and care goes into developing a yearbook. Togetherness keeps us working as a team, said Debbie Nardozzi, assistant editor. The newspaper staff is devoted to supplying students with news from Campus to community. The Challenge also includes students views on topics of each issue. The paper gives a wide coverage of the sports played at T.H.S. The challenge covers student life which makes us both laugh and cry. Challenge reporters use their words so well they can usually win an argument in their favor. Don't be fooled there is a lot of work that goes into making a paper. Golf This year Thunderbird's Golf Team proved they were true chiefs with their scores. In September, the team was the runner-up in Cambelback Invitational Tournament at the Arizona Biltmore. The team placed ninth in AAA State Tournament. With such placements, it is easy to understand why the Golf Team season- al record was twenty-one wins and seven losses. All of the players worked very hard and proved they were the best. Paul Smith came in ninth in Divisionals while Danielle Ammac- capane was fifth in the state, placing her on the first All-Star team.
