Skating Rink At our Square Dance Fool's Frolicn in C ass History In the fall of 195l we started up the flrst rung of the ladder as Freshmen Twenty eight green but happy Freshmen elected officers as fol lows President Bill Clark, Vice President Larry Goins, Treasurer Cath erlne Ramsey, Secretary Alice Coffman We had a skatin party in October at the Frankfort March 29, l95h, we served hot dog sandwhlckes class party wfs held at the Mechanicsburg Rest Park that year Bob Carter joined us from Klondike, the gymnasium on cokes Our second Drlve Tnn During stayed for only one month We also lost Eva Mae Veach, Jim Bennett, 8-D an but an Ronnie Prlce We ended the year with 26 students, 13 boys and 12 girls Our sponsors for the year were Mr Graden Boyd and Miss harrlet Nichols The second rung of the ladder was reached in August 1952 During the summer Eva Mae Veach and Ronnie Price had moved back to Thorntown and John Barrlson had moved to Washington D C When we entered school there were 13 girls and 13 boys in our Coffman, Vice President Larry Grace Hamill We bought our of color combinations Grey class Our officers were President George Goins, Treasurer Catherine Ramsey, Secretary class sweaters after serious consideration background with green letters Our first class party was a skating party held at Frankfort Skating Rink on October 3 1952 Our Sophomore Dance nWashington Wing Ding was held on February 21, 1952 Our second class party was a weiner roast at Mechanicsburg Park followed by a movie at the Mechanicsburg Drive Inn We selected our class rings which were to be delivered in the fall This year we gained Bill Carr, Ronnie Price, and Eva Mae Veach and lost Gurney Williams, Emiley Morrison, Don Martin, Lewis Cretsinger, and Morris Pollard During the school year David Strong was killed in an automobile wreck Our class sponsor was Mr Marvin White At last we arrived on the third rung of our ladder of life Our off tary Mildred Bailey, Treasurer Phyllis Kincaid Our money making year be gan w th a food sale in October Our Junior Play 'The Imaginary Invalid' was presented October 30 was held on December 19, furnished the music W popcorn at ballgames and 3 , 195k The Formal Dance 'The Crystal Ball 1953, at the town hall The Albright Brothers used our money from selling cokes, candy, and food sales for our Junior Senior Reception O May 1, 195k we took the Seniors to the Country lub at Lebanon for a ban quet, to the Iurat Theatre to see 'The King And I,n to the town hall for a midnight snack and recreation, and then had slumber parties at Nancy P1ety's and Jack Patterson's We started the year with 9 boys and 10 girls and during the year we lost Ronnie Price, Alice Coffman, Doris Mc Call, and Patty Merrill We gained Luetta Bailey By the end of the year we had 8 boys and 9 girls During thls year we had a skat1ng party Al so we decided on our pattern for our invitations and name cards ur class sponsors were Piss Harriet Nlchols and Mrs Marjorie Long At last the fourth rung of the ladder has been reached Our officers for our final year in school are President Bill Clark, Vice President Don Huber, Secretary Charlotte Williams, Treasurer Phyllis Kincaid On Sept ember 23 we had our pictures taken at Porter's in Indianapolis Our Sock Dance nGreenies On Paraden was held September 2h in the new school gym For our class party we went to the Circle Theatre and saw uSusan Slept Here ' We selected our Exode Staff Our Senior pictures arrived on Nov ember 9, 195k We received our namecards The many memorable events that lie ahead are the Senior play, Junior Senior reception, another class party, Class Night, Baccalaureate, and Commencement Our sponsors for our final year were Mrs Frances Gadsin and Mr Obert Piety Now we ascend to the fifth step 'NOT AT THE TOP, BUT CLIM INGIN I Q z I , - . , E. - - - . d . d L ' V . a e Y O 1 ' ' U 1 0 icers were: President-George Coffman: Vice President-Larry Goinsg Secre- -1 c -. 1 ' ' 7 ' -1 0 I ll e 0 . Class Will Ve, the Senior Class of Nineteen Hundred and Fifty-five, of the town of Thorntown, of the County of Boone, in the state of Indiana, United States of America, with due consideration for those herein after named, do solemnly make, declare, and publish this to be our last will and test- amont. We, Mildred Bailey and Sue Fisher, do bequeath to Ann Houser and Carol Graham our interest in surrounding towns. It proves quite inter- esting sometimes. I, Jim Eaton, do bequeath my freckly cream to Melvin Hanna, hoping it will cover up a few more for him than it did for me. I, Larry Goins, do bequeath to Don Cravens my desire for studying and arguing a Business Law case. I, Grace Hamill, do bequeath to Beverly Fairfield my privilege of playing at school programs and meetings. I, Charlotte Williams, do bequeath the thrill of receiving long dis- tance phone calls, especially from Michigan, to any girl going with a college guy I, Shirley Hanna, do bequeath my eagerness and determination to get Bookkeeping to Anna Billingsley I, Don Huber, do bequeath to Sam Ramsey my ability to pet tones, instead of hot air, out of a baritone horn I, Bueford Clouser, do bequeatn my book entitled 'One Thousand and One Different Makes of Cars' to any person able to buy the car, and then set up posts, fences, mailboxes, and signs. I, Bob Wilson, do bequeath to the Freshman a special map showing parking space for a tidy locker I, Gene Riggle, do bequeath my amazing Shorthand knowledge to Jack Helm Perhaps he can use it, perhapsl I, Willis Clark, do bequeath to Blaine Martin the black haired girl on my Senior Cords I, William Carr, do bequeath to Mickey Lamb all my money All two cents of it! I, Phyllis Kincaid, do bequeath to all underclassmen in Row Club my basketball enthusiasm. We, the Seniors, do bequeath to our teachers our appreciation and thanks for the advice and guidance they gave so freely in helping us com plete our high school career To each underclassman we bequeath, our honored position hoping that you will someday bear the distinguished title Senior of Thorntown High School Signed, sealed, and delivered this second day of May, in the year 195 I I 5.
