' at dw FJMMW Some say that dreams are but idle fancy but I say dreams are my working plans Upon the unforseen future I would play in contemplation of what lies beyond the portal in the Garden of Tomorrow All this do I dream while Seniors flit the hours away in the enchanted garden. My dreams extend far into the Future, so far, in fact, that our earthly life has been exhausted. You have all assumed your deserv ing posts along the Road of Heaven As I end my earthly journey and make my entrance into the Great Beyond, I am told that my presence marks 1001 for the Thorntown Class of '53 At this Entrance Gate of Heaven I am given my possessions a pair of wings, a snow white robe, and a halo Now I am on my own! I cross the portal and immediately the beautiful angelic voice of Susie Ruckle falls on my ears. My eyes follow her music and I see her with all the grace and poise an angel could possess, leading the Choir of Heaven After rehearsal we meet and Susie introduces me to some of her choir members I have made previous acquaintances with only two of them Issed soprano I inquire about my other classmates and am told to continue my journey along the Road of Heaven where I will find all of them at their heavenly tasks I have traveled but a short distance when I see Phyllis Cravens and Barbara Fisher standing guard over the Star of Bethlehem They are very busy peering through their numerous sun lit telescopes looking for flying saucers that might hinder the beautiful rays of this sacred star. I decide not to bother them and looking to the other side of the road, I find walter Riche and Max Price attempting to transform the smallest stars into baskeiballs and using their halos as the baskets I try to get their attention, but they are so busy committing earthly fouls that my attempts are in vain As I wander farther down this Road of Heaven I am suddenly pushed a side by the Littlest Angel I had read so much about in my earthly days As he zooms past in pigeon toed action, chasing his halo as usual, I recognize Gene James I fly to my feet with the help of two rescuers whom I recognize as Carolyn Caldwell and Marjorie Moore They tell my they have been appointed to act as angelic nurses to aid those who unfortunately come in too close contact with the Littlest Angel Before I have time utter a word of thanks, they are gone on another mission L..s I happen to peer overhead and notice Carol on and Johnnie Altum who are performing the artistic work of Heaven They are rearranging stars, fluffing clouds, adding a touch of blue sky here and there, and doing numerous other tasks which make the Heavens appear more beautiful. Looking a little farther I also see Freeman Pollard, Davlg ugponalg, and Eddie Woodard who are very busy shining stars. They seem to have a method of mass production-Freeman blows on the stars, David shines, and Eddie throws them back in place. I ask where I might purchase a sandwich and am told that as angels we must keep a strict diet of Milky Way. So I get directions and start out once again. At my destination I find Barbara Merrill who is Chief Angelic Waitress and Carol York and Ruth Mullen, her assistants. They also use assembly line technique. Ruth cuts the Milky Way, Carol grabs a flying saucer and Barbara hands the product to the customer After my dainty, one course meal, I continue my journey along the Road of Heaven meeting Harold Jones and Dave Southworth who are performing their Heavenly duties by freezing rain Through an earthly messenger it has been learned that winter is drawing nigh and snow is in demand Therefore it is the job of Harold and Dave to blow on each rain drop as it passes, turning it to snow Inquiring further, I learn that B111 Randal is the angel in charge of Heavenly Water works when precIpIta Ion Is called for, he very gently tips the Big Dipper, allowing the needed moisture to fall. While we were on the subject of rain, I de cided to ask about lightning and thunder which has always been a mystery to me I found that Eddie Castetter was Chief Angelic Electrical Engl neer in charge of lightning and Glenn Coffman was Chief Angelic Thunder Bolt When I later saw them in actfon during a storm, they seemed to be having quite a shocking time directing their blows toward earth Since it was nearing dusk, I was aided by the stars to see my last classmate, Jerrianne Craig, who was helping mend the troubles of the old est angels Among her patients I noticed our two beloved Senior Spon sors, Mrs Frances Gadsin and Mr Obert Piety, who were both rather bedraggled by now It grew darker and darker until my dream faded into the Present I suddenly lost all my Heavenly contacts, and peering into the mirror of Today, I found myself an earthly being And now, my fellow classmates, since I have related to you my dream, I hope you will bear with me and keep my dream safe until TOMORROW TO DEVELOP IN MYS-LF AN APPRECIATION FOR THE FINER THINGS OF LIFE TO ACQUIRE SELF CONTROL AND SELF RELIANCE TO COOPERATE WITH OTHERS IN STUD NT ACTIVI TIES FOR THE WELFARE OF THE SCHOOL TO BE LOYAL TO MY SCHOOL AND TO IVE HER MY STRONGEST SUPPORT AT ALL TIMES SPUHL BE MY PUR POSE DURING MY ATTENDANCE AT T H S t O T.
