Social Studies Used Discussions Social Studies, one of the largest departments at Thorn- ton, is headed by Mr. Clifton Satterthwaite. A project of special interest this year was TV Team Teaching by means of television in the classrooms. Among the other activities of the department were .Social Studies Club meetings, parent meetings, the annual .Social .Studies Fair, the Washington, D.C., tour for juniors, seniors. Science Classes Specialized in All Sorts of Experiments Dot 111 DeRossi, Edward Prohaska learn III HEIGH chemicals for an experiment. Wayne Geschke, James Sarlon look at PROTOZOAX cultures with microscopes. This year ' s new science course was IPS — New Physical Science. Television monitors were installed in biology rooms and new binocular dissecting scopes were purchased for the program. The annual Science Fair was again held in March. Several science teachers took in-service courses spon- sored by NSF to keep abreast of the field. Four teachers also took the TJC course in television.
