They have gone to Heritage Square Opera House, had a booth at the Thorn- ton High Carnival, conducted the Christmas can food drive, and went on a retreat to the Adams County Fairgrounds. They spon- sored three field trips, for students to visit colleges in Colorado, and are trying to give a scholarship to the most deserving senior in National Honor Society. To be in National Honor Society you must have a 3.5 grade point average or better. All the teachers nominate the students which they believe have something meaningful to offer Honor Society. The teachers also choose for those students out of leadership, character, scholarship, and service. Executive Council for National Honor Society consists of four peo- ple which are assigned certain duties. They are: Debbie Brady who is in charge of social get-togethers. Marty Standish arranges college visitations. Kirk Marcy is ahead of the point system, and Randy Nickerson is in charge of the fund raising program. Sponsors for the Torch Lighter Chapter of National Honor Society here at Thornton are Ms. Kathy Valentine. Mrs. Cora-Ann Berry- man. and Mr. David Nasser.
