The 1978-1979 Boys' Varsity Basketball Squad, coached by Mr. Boyd Pickens, had a disappointing record of 4-14, but they were a very competitive team. With only senior letterman, Dave Schell, and junior letterman, Dick Jones, returning from the pre- vious year, the lack of experience resulted in many close losses. Eleven of the fourteen losses were de- cided by seven points or less. Despite the poor re- cord, the scrappy Trojan cagers continued to im- prove, and, with the efforts of seniors Tim Kubik. Glenn Boychuk, Mike Keefe, and juniors. Mike Wha- len, Lyle Wells, and Orlando Vigil, they beat Mullen and lost to 1 ranked Regis by two points, late in the season. The Junior Varsity team, coached by Mr. Mike Hen- son, showed the same lack of experience with soph- omores Dan Fiala. Kevin Kinnear, Chris Scaggs, and George Montour starting at the end of the year.
