Girls’ Volleyball Takes Charge Of VARSITY VOLLEYBALL: Front, I. to r. Sylvia Ortega. Donna Woodard. Debbie Colin. Jodi Jantzer. Back. David Pizzuti. Cynde Fleck. Joyce Moore. Caron Guiles. Catherine Guiles. Coach Stuart Major. The Thornton Girls’ Volleyball team did an incredible job this year with a 17 and 2 record. This is the firsl time in Thornton High School history that any volley- ball team has done such a fantastic job. They success- fully met and beat Adams City for the American Divi- sion title. They defeated Brighton High for the Skyline League title. They then went on to defeat Lincoln High to qualify for the state tournament, thus bringing home three trophies. The girls next went on to crush Mon- trose to take fourth place in the state tournament.
