Conversely, we hoped to find out what makes things click and what causes success. The investigating committee, after diligent research and hazardous experiences found the answer to be -gremlins. Now there are helpful gremlins and trouble making gremlinsg aided by the all-seeing eye of the camera which uncovers even the little men unseen by mortals, We shall, in this 1945 CHRONOSCOPE, attempt to show you how the lit- tle creatures affect your school life, Above is the Gremlin Investigating camrmtfee, Note that even these courageous de tectives are not free from the gremlins influence. Wie always did suspect those iunxorsl I I 1 1 Here you see the staff as it started the Search which lead to these startling revelations. The school board weni on record as being definitely skeptical about the existence of Gremlins. "Its sheer onse se ' the s stall to get out of troub n n , cy said, "and just a student Mr. Preisszg, M, Klein, Ffh, VJ rlhgrgri, Mr, Kuhlzr. rn and Mr. Gxndl, "But gentlemen," put in our timid reporter, "just because you can't see them doesn't mean they don't exist." Ein, U Y' "Stuff and horsefeathersf' put in the board spokesman, "l suppose there's one hopping around on the table and another one trying to saw off a legl" We considered ourselves reproved and left the meeting but we still be- lieve in gremlins. Wandering around in the outer office we heard queer noises inside the closed door where the registrar holds forth. There wasnt anyone there, but Tellzal Tommy, with whom we became well acquainted later, said that some incorrigible gremlins were jamming up the program so that everybody could fix things to suit himself, and in the ngidst of the fun, in walked the guarf aicrn cf the scledulell Page Gremlins For Food and Heat l When better food is served the grerrilins will help do it when the tood is punkfthe grernlins did it. Seriously, between the rationing grernlins and the scarcity its a wonder that Miss Etter and, the Cronkrights were able to look pleasant tor the birdie. L. to r. Miss Etter, Mrsi Cronkright, Bertha l-leino, Gwen McCullough, Geraldine Overrneyer, Dolores Enloe. The grernlins chased all the girls, but Bertha and the second semester we had a whole new crew that the gremlins didn't bother halt as much, ln tact they even got helpful. The grenilins detained Charlie while this picture was taken. "You can't tell it but Barney had a hammer ana swore to get the 'creature' it he saw a grenilin, while Nick was ready to unscrew the cone twisted thing and see what rnade it tick. No, hold on a minute. Gremlinic delays of various sorts kept Paul Brose, Mike Dobrynski, Robert Granhack, Zeah Hawkins, and Vernon Reichert from having their pictures taken in time for inclusion in the senior section. You'll find them farther on in the hook. Henry Linkiewicz went into service too soon to he "mugged" and we haven't received a picture of him in uniform. lrene Madejowski and Evelyn Tetlack transferred from Bowen too late to have pictures taken. Five students were added to the senior list after the photographs were all taken: Edward Besse Elaine Nowaczyk Alfred Parker Suzette Regnier Walter Schmidt And four little seniors were scared to get shot: Shirley Armstrong Betty Klensman Ioan Mason Helen Praikaitis That's all folks, CUnless the gremlins sneak someone else in while this is being printed? We don't think there's a bet- ter way to prove that we realize what the "fellows" over there are doing for us. lt seems as though the gremlins scared the faculty away this year, but even though they were not able to entertain us with one of those Hscrewy assemblies", our Christmas seals were sold again this year with no trouble and we were able to give to the C.T.l. a sum of money that made us proud. This year has been another busy one so l shall do my best to try to include everything. First, we have our Big and Little Sister party. lt's funny how you tell your little sisters "what rooms are where" and sort of help them along with their locker that the gremlins won't let them open, but then when you think back it wasn't so long ago that you were as green as they are. Seems impossible now, but it's so true. Our Halloween party was a success again this year. lf we recall Miss Iaacks had quite a time after school in Room 221, trying to convince some girls that she could sell only so many tickets. Then a circus came to town, yes, and it was none other than our Girls' Club Dance. Man shortage or no man shortage, the gremlins were kind enough to find some men l?l for us to 11 1. . FROSI-l-SOPH FQGTBALL Fast hand blocking line men plus hard hitting backs gave the Frosh-Soph a good war time season. The results ot the games were 5 wins against 2 losses. Morton and Blue lsland were the only squads to top the baby varsity this year. This gives the Frosh-Soph squad one of its best seasons in four years. Other In- diana Teams met Fractional. Highly-touted George Rogers Clark bowed to the Kiesterman, 46-41, but Griffith and Ham- mond Tech eked out close victories over our boys. In league play, the Meteors won from every opponent except the tall giants of Kankakee, who twice squeezed through to finish ahead of Cal City, 37-31 and 39-34. Two games each with Harvey and Blue Island resulted in a split with the TF. stalwarts, while the Meteors zoomed through Argo, Lockport and Bloom for a clean sweep. The post-season Illinois state tournament found Frac- tional breezing to a victory over Morgan Park Military Acad- emy in their first regional contest at Ioliet. Then tate decreed . that the Meteors meet Ioliet in the semi-finals. That's all brother! The Steelmen have been the Blitz Kids' nemesis for years in the state and 1945 was no exception. Eight points separated Ioliet and T. F. when the final gun exploded Frac- tional's hopes of journeying to Champaign, the scoreboard reading Ioliet 37, Meteors 29. New faces be Gi G premium when Fractional lakes Coach Kiester and Coach Fedosky the floor next season, About the only players we'll lose by graduation this spring are Len Telechon, Frank Rogers, and Sam Caruso. Atho Sam didn't play a lot, his mark of four baskets in eight tries heads the list of sharpshooting averages. lim N9W9ll, who Spelled Bob Shepherd in the Center jump, was a mid-term graduate, and, like Ed Nondorf, won't be back next year. But the speed merchants, Stokes, Creviston, Ollrich, Horvatich and Shepherd, will probably be the first string line for Kiester's l945-46 roster. That is, if they can hold their own against stiff competition from some likely upCOmers in the frosh-soph ranks. The Young 'uns will l'1CIV9 Ct tOuqlf1 time, tliOL1Ql1, trying to equal the cage skill of Tommy Stokes, whose razzle-dazzle whirlwind dribbling made manyan opposing guard dizzy and whose long shots to the basket were as habitual as they were miraculous cmd QS time-ly GS they were accurate. -, -- Or Norm Creviston, Ed Nondorf's replacement, Who really came into his own during the state tourney in Ioliet. NOTTH resembles G bolt of lightning going Clown the floor and -his deadly aim close in proved dynamite when, for example, he racked up 22 points against Morgan Park Military Academy. - - Or the aggressive Augie Ollrich, with his catlike defense, darting out of nowhere to steal the ball from a bewildered foe. Or Shepherds handy height on the rebounds, or Rudy Horvatich, who handles the ball like a piano virtuoso and is a sure shot at the free line. Mike Ferentella and Ed Fedosky Ir. should improve in the coming year, and Tony Abate might develop into a threat to strike terror in the hearts of T.F.'s opponents next season. It looks like a big year ahead, just as it was a fine season during 1944-45. Maybe Coach Kiester will improve on his one-handed free throw system, and we can hear the boys wearing the purple and gold an the basketball floor say, as they toss in the baskets: "Look at us . . . no-handed." We sure had some good times ilala paloozers, none the lessl there, didn't we? Sometimes I nearly split my sides laugh- ing at all our little antics in the locker room!eSpeaking of the locker room, I don't know what we would have done if the gremlins hadn't warned us those times when the janitor or the laundry man came through the "inner courts" of la locker room. But, please, let's not talk about that! Rather let's recall: The originating of the Glamazons-our new little way of helping out by selling programs at the games--our tremendous, stupendous profits at the carnival ffish pond, of coursell-'cause they all blend together to make this an interesting, lively year.-Of course, the Iuniors did beat the Sen- iors in the tournaments, but they were fun anyhow, and they provided instances for good sports- manship to shine through in its real element-and that's what counts after all, isn't it?-When I think of volleyball, I hear Miss Iaacks saying, "Hey, Butler, the net's over this way." Captain bas- ketball revealed little "Larsie's" speed and skill in guarding and Ianie's scrumptious two base shots I weren't anything to be sneezed at either!-the Schultz twins did a marvelous job of officiat- ing and helping to make the year successful Hand "Tiny" Wulf remained our faithful "good humor" gal, always providing a hearty laugh!-Sarah Rider made the team and pro- vided us with a good "victim" at the initiation party! Alward, lerzyk, all the other faithful seniors'?'? I can safely say that we'1l never forget GAC and all the swell kids who are taking our places.-Ionesie, Tevis, Mickey, Knabenhans, Van Slyke, Fedosky, and little Peewee Parker fand especially that one best sport of all our dear Miss Iaacksll will re- main in a special little place in our hearts just like that record breaking GAC Banquet, and all the other events that are part of our sen- lor year in GAcs11 I I Back Row against the wall: Shirley Lietzan, Ianie Schultz, Miss lack- X son, Suzie Regnier Dolores Knabehans, Margaret Warput.
