COMBAT SYSTEMS DEPARTMENT Lieutenant Thomas Moninger is from Williamsburg, Virginia. He graduated from the Naval Academy in 1994 and completed his Master's Degree in Government and Politics in 1995. After attending Surface Warfare Offi- cers School ISWOSJ in Newport, RI, he reported to USS MITSCHER IDDG 571 as Communications Officer. In 1997, LT Moninger completed nuclear 'power training in Orlando, Florida and Charleston, South Car- olina. He reported to USS DWIGHT E. EISENHOWER ICVN 691 as the Chemical and Radiological Assistant where he served for two years and completed his certification as a Nuclear Engineering Officer. Follow- ing this certification, he reported to Newport, RI for Department Head School and arrived on USS THORN in February of 2001. He lives in Chesapeake, Virginia with his wife, Elaine, and their two-year-old son, Ryan.
