Red Sea - MIP OPS THORN spent February and most of March operating in the northern Red Sea as part of DESERT STORM with Multi-National Forces enforcing U.N. sanctions against Iraq. While in the Red Sea, THORN served as flagship for Commander, Destroyer Squadron TWENTY-TWO Com- modore Bulkley. MIP OPS were action packed and featured nearly constant small boat and flight operations. Being DESRON 22 flagship added additional spice as We hosted a Multi-National VIP conference. In all' aspects of MIF OPS, on both sides of the life lines, the THORN team performed flawlessly. I Captain Kelly and Commodore Bulkley show off the Bridge. 50 Cal 's manned and ready.
