IB IZA, SPAIN THORN,s first stop during MED l-92 came on the sixteenth of December when we anchored off the coast of the small spanish Island of Ibiza. After two weeks at sea, the sleepy Spanish fish- ing village offered an excellent opportunity to relax and sample the local culture. Ibiza also gave our mail its first opportunity to catch up with us since leaving Charleston. l Nice boat!! ET3 Heslin with Old Ibiza as a backdrop.

ST SYR-S - ER, A local children 'S theater troop put on a street 5 play for the THORN crew. FRANCE THORN,s home for the holidays was the small riviera resort of St Syr-Sur-Mer, France. We arrived in St Syr on the twen- ty-third of December and stayed through third of January. The local population opened their homes to sailors for holiday meals and helped make the visit very pleasant. Many sailors made trips to Paris, Nice and Alpine Ski resorts. The visit was highlighted by THORN'S basketball team defeating a French University team and the Wardroom challenging a local club team to a soccer match. , X X, .
