W? V fgjijf 2, If! With her first year on the road now over, THORN enters a new year, a year that will beginpwith a Mediterranean Cruise. In the preceeding year THORN and her crew saw many things, did many things. From Pre-Com in Norfolk, Virginia to Commissioning in Pascagoula, Mississippi. She has made cruises to GuantanamoYBay, Cuba twice, visited Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, St. Croix, Virgin Islands, Roosevelt Roads, Puerto Rico, Newport, Rhode Island for the Arnerica's Cup Races and Norfolk, Virginia for deperming. She has sailed back to Pascagoula twice, first for an extensive PSAXRAV program, and again for a short dry-dock period. THORNS first birthday was spent at sea during READEX 2-81, preparing for the upcoming Med Cruise. She has been a busy ship, barely getting time to rest in her homeport. She has distinguished herself among her sisters in the Spruance class. She has done more in the short time she has been in commission than most people believed possible. She is a mighty ship with a mighty crew. A fitting synonym for THORN is THE BEST . fjff?
