Initiation for All
The Thomasville Academy Lettermen's Club
made its debut at the school this year. The
Lettermen's Club consists of T. A. students
who have lettered in one of the major sports
The year was filled with activities. The Let-
termen's Club sponsored an old car at the
Halloween Carnival. It wasn't a bad looking
car until Barbara Brasell painted caricatures
of teachers and students on it. To make
money, the Lettermen's Club charged 250
for three slugs with a sledge hammer Every-
one got a big laugh as the car became more
compact with each hit
ln November they sold red jackets with a
Thomasville Academy Panther emblem on
it Many students received school jackets for
ln the spring the Lettermens Club held
initiation Since this was the first year of
the Lettermen s Club everyone was initi
ated The boys attire for an evening was
feed sacks and the entertainment was sup
plied by the boys themselves The following
are only a few of the relays they partici
pated in cherry on a block of ice the
record race and the goal post race The
lucky loser was awarded a rotten catfish
head to wear around his neck
Next the girls had their day They were
required to wear no make up and their
clothes wrong side out At school that day
they obeyed the boys every command A
shout of Air raid' called for the girls to
immediately hit the floor and search for air
planes with their binoculars
To complete their day o initiation syrup
