The students honored are a great asset not only to the school but the communi- ty asawhole. Two seniors and three juniors were representa- tives of the school at Girls' State, Boys'State, Harding College, Alaba- ma Lions High School Camp, Accent Day at U. of A. and Model U.S. Senate at Birmingham Southern. Donna jackson lupper leftl, senior, was Girls' State Representative and the T.A. representative at Model U.S. Senate at Bir- mingham Southern. By at- tending each of these ac- tivities, Donna learned how our government works. Brent Knight lup- per leftl, senior, was Boys' State Representative dur- ing the summer after his junior year. He learned the basic principles of our state's government. Gerri Lyles flower leftl and Butch Ingram Cbe- lowl, juniors, learned the principles of democracy and citizenship. Gerri was the representative to the Alabama Lions High School Camp and Butch was the Harding College Representative. Rita Westbrook llower leftl, junior, attended Accent Day at the University of Alabama. All the players, cheerleaders, coaches, parents, and friends were on hand to hear the guest speaker, jackie Reese, and rejoice with the boys as the awards were pre- sented. Mike Walker won The Most Valuable Offensive Football Player trophy for his swift mind and fancy footwork. Strong willed Allen Tucker was award- ed with The Most Valu- able Defensive Football Player. Danny Bedwell won the Most improved Player Award. Rocky Knight won the Most Val- uable Basketball and Baseball Awards. Brent Knight won the Galbraith Good Sportsmanship Award and the T.A. Aca- demic Award.
