All of them enjoy skating whether it is the excitement of skating as fast as they can or just improving their skating skills. The veterans find pleasure in the races and games such as scooter racing and whistle skating. The beginners have a hard time learn- ing how to skate when this group in- vades the rink. Most of the beginners hug the rails. Those daring enough to risk leaving the safety of the rails usually get pushed down. In the end the eighth graders are tired and sore but happy. It doesnt take long to recover from their bruises and then theyre off again V - ww-'e L-.,-rv -nnvsnn .aa-.em . K- k I I , -T on another skatingtrip. j ,, , .tr Eighth Grade 99

They had a choice of courses that would prepare them either for college or a career in business. Some chose algebra and biology while others chose general business and general math. Decisions on sports were much easier to make. Several of them participated in football, basketball, baseball, or track.
