They really have pedal power as they round the bend and come to a sudden stop. The stop sign means only tem- porary rest for them. They turn the corner and race down a shady dirt raod. All you see is a glint of steel and a long trail of dust behind them, When the dirt road intersects with the main road, they glide easily on the smooth gravel. Clean, fresh air and exercise really appeal to them. The scenery is another important reason the 7th graders ride. They take in everything happening around them. Sometimes they like the stillness of the country side mingled with their merry chatter. At other times they prefer the noise and the busy streets of town. Of all the reasons they like to ride, the most important reason is to do their own thing-to be blue-jean clad cyclists. i- -vue., .balm ' 1 f' fiifif QT: Y' 'll Aqfillfllli-. Seventh Gratis

All of them enjoy skating whether it is the excitement of skating as fast as they can or just improving their skating skills. The veterans find pleasure in the races and games such as scooter racing and whistle skating. The beginners have a hard time learn- ing how to skate when this group in- vades the rink. Most of the beginners hug the rails. Those daring enough to risk leaving the safety of the rails usually get pushed down. In the end the eighth graders are tired and sore but happy. It doesnt take long to recover from their bruises and then theyre off again V - ww-'e L-.,-rv -nnvsnn .aa-.em . K- k I I , -T on another skatingtrip. j ,, , .tr Eighth Grade 99
