Introduced to Jefferson seniors
this semester was a new 12A
English course to replace the old
E4A. Seniors now read up-to-date:
books about this war and fiction.
They read the best sellers and
the "Book of the Month" selec-
tions. When asked about the new: '
course the seniors exclaim it's
swell. It gives you a chance to
catch up on your reading and to
find out what's going on in this

The jeffersonian staff has been faced with many
difficulties, all directly or indirectly caused by war
time limitations, in producing the school newspaper-
Dolive has had a hard time securing hlm and thcrc-
fore often found it necessary to borrow cuts from the
city dailies. With the ever lengthening roll of boys
in service, Bess had quite a time keeping up the address
files and licking endless stamps. Merchants already
overwhelmed with business were not convinced of
their need for advertising, so lid and Bettie had to
resort to new methods of interesting them.
On the other hand, there was plenty of material for
Peggyls "Who's Whose"g many appreciative letters
from service men and original poems for Vcra'S
"jefferson Speaks." The full schedules of cxciting
sports kept Tony busy on the sports page, and reading
and digesting the exchange papers from other sCh00lS
took most of Gloria's time.
In spite of the rush to meet deadlines and thc
eternal need for additional news stories, every mem-
ber of the staff counts his experiences on thc jeffer-
soriian among the most valuable.
