Will Be Winners A result of too many trying out and a need for basic training in prospective varsity players, the reserve football team was formed. If this season was any indication of varsity squads to come, then Howe is in for many more winning seasons in football. The reserve squad ended the year with an 8-2 record, placing them second in the city. Perhaps not show- ing the experience of a varsity team or demonstrating perfect execution all the time, the junior varsity team did make the games exciting with unex- pected come-back victories. This year ' s beginning football team showed the potential to be winners for Howe in coming seasons. Though the freshmen lacked experience and unity in the beginning, towards the end im- provement came through and they ended their season with a 1-8-1 record. The coaching staff and fans felt that in the next four years the players will be winners. m

Spikers Win Howe ' s 1975 volleyball team had, according to Coach Nancy McMillan, the best season since she started coaching the team in 1972. The varsity record was 7-4 and reserve was 4-6. The season got off to a slow start but toward the end the girls really im- proved and showed their true abilities, which led them to competition in sec- tional semi-finals. The level of ability throughout the state has improved so much over the last few years that Coach McMillan felt sure that this team could have won at least sectionals three or four years ago. Seniors dominated the varsity squad. The MVP award was given to Carol McCrae, and the Best Mental At- titude award was received by Laurel Lagenaur. The team ended the season looking forward to next year with many return- ing players.
