1' ' ' 'i-3:2 HERMAN WILLIAM SHURE Com1ng from New Haven to The Gunnery 1n hlS Sophomore year B111 soon earned a reputat1on for 1n tegr1ty and 1ndustry for when B111 was glVCH a job no matter how small he would put h1s heart and soul 1nto lf As Bus1ness Manager of The Gunnery Newt B111 worked long hours addressmg newspapers and h1s ab1l1ty w1th the addressograph was cap1ta11zed on for B111 was address1ng envelopes for the Second Gunnery Comm1ttee and The Red and Gray as well When he was not stag1ng pr1ze fights B111 was probably s1ng1ng 1n the Vesper Cho1r or the Glee Club He also put h1s VOICE to good effect on the debat1ng rostrum and as a prompter for the school play Havmg a keen sense of humor B111 was always a welcome guest at any party Unfortunately 1llness prevented B111 from part1c1pat 1ng 1n any athlet1cs for the early part of the school year so he became Wrest11ng manager to keep h1m self occup1ed IH the W1nter In the Spr1ng he reta1ned h1s POSIIIOD on the Golf team ga1n1ng h1s Vars1ty letter As he goes North to Dartmouth next Fall we w1sh h1m the best of luck and success 1n h1s new surround IH s HAROLD DAVID SCOVILLE A post graduate ha1l1ng from nearby Torr1ngton Dave earned a place among h1s Classmates through h1s unassumlng manner and h1S fr1endly d1SPOSlI1OH Early 1n the year Dave undertook the yob of Typ1ng Edrtor of The Red and Gray and consequently he has seen many a thousand words pass beneath h1s finger t1ps When he was not burnlng the m1dn1ght 011 1n the Red and Gray shack Dave was to be heard a1r1ng h1s vrews at the Current Affa1rs Club where he up held the Repubhcan phalanx aga1nst the meagre Democrat1c In h1s last term he dec1ded to develop h1s vocal chords by 1o1n1ng the Glee Club He furthered h1s IDICICSE 1n mus1c through the MUSIC Club On the Soccer field he was a very potent full back playmg for the J V Squad and many an oppos1ng forward learned to regret h1s audac1ty when he came 1nto contact w1th Daves sh1ns Durrng the W1nter Dave was one of those boys who helped construct the new school com mon room In the Spr1ng he went out to Lake Wara maug and acted as Crew manager We Wlsh h1m the best of luck 1n h1s new env1ronment at Cornell next a we-is X-any 1 I I fy , ,sm ' . , -' . . . . . . 1 A . . . 7 n F ll. f f l, i s is , - I ' - , ' ' ,,'5' ll ' ' Y ' k 1.
