“No longer plain and simple, but . . . Complex ity, Tech also has managed to remain simple, elegant and vibrant. Over the years, Tech has become a place to live and learn, to have fun and make life-long friends. Over the years Tech has become special and through it all La Ventana has grown with it. Over 58 years ago, when the first volume was published, there wasn ' t a whole lot to cover. Lubbock was still a growing teenager and Texas Tech was simply TTC. Only a thousand or so students attend Tech in that first year and despite being new and original, the campus wasn ' t exactly a hotbed of activity. When looking at Tech now, there is no better way to ex- plain the university than to contrast it with the past.
