' Dedication LT. COLONEL E. V. ADAMS The Class of 1966 is proud to dedicate its AGGIELAND to the director of the Fightin ' Texas Aggie Band, Lt. Col. E. V. Adams ' 29. For 20 years, The Colo¬ nel has been the inspiration behind the nation ' s largest marching military band. Sel¬ dom giving a direct com¬ mand, he relies on cadet officers to lead the organiza¬ tion. Each man is instilled with Adams ' brand of self- discipline and personal re¬ sponsibility that makes our Bands ' intricate maneuvers possible. No member of A M ' s staff is held in higher esteem by his colleagues. Even A M ' s fiercest competitors admit Adams is the best in the busi¬ ness. Texas A M is the only conference school that ad¬ ministers its band with a one- man staff. This is particularly remarkable—and a great trib¬ ute to Colonel Adams—when you consider that his organi¬ zation is twice the size of most. But the trait we appreciate above all others is the Colonel ' s appraisal of the role of students. He always thinks of students first. Few advisors here or elsewhere devote their life so thoroughly to this principle. Recognition for this remarkable officer and devoted Aggie is long overdue. This may be the greatest tribute to the man—the band operates so smoothly that most of us assume it runs itself. We salute Colonel Adams for his dedication and devotion that has brought national fame to the Fightin ' Texas Aggie Band and to Texas A M . . . 14
