These two people have made great strides in molding Tennessee Wesleyan College to what it is today. 14 Dr. Naff enjoys reading and especially teaching. He likes to golf and both he and his wife like to socialize. Mrs. Naff enjoys composing music, particularly for special stage productions, she swims regularly and directs a church bell choir. She also entertains friends in their home and cares for their grandchildren. 15 ■, ■. : H rii a n)- if; ; psta ;tolri Hi ■but, ;.wr,n n-wwn BB ' Ti flfr 14 16 The 1983-84 yearbook is dedicated to President George Naff upon his retirement. Tennessee Wesleyan College has prospered from his years as the head of our college and he will be missed as an administrator here. President Naff ' s education includes a B.A. from Emory and Henry in English and Psychology, his degree in Theology from Candler School of Theology of Emory University, Atlanta, and post graduate work at Union Theological Seminary in New York City and University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Dr. Naff has been a church pastor, an Air Force Chaplin during World War II, a college chaplin and religion professor, a United Methodist District Superintendent, and a college president. Dr. Naff has enjoyed his associations with members of the faculty and administration, among many of whom he has known as students. He has enjoyed the opportunity to see the college make slow but steady progress spiritually and otherwise. After his retirement Dr. Naff and his wife plan to live in Athens and he is making inquiries into part time service in a nearby church. He would also enjoy teaching some religion and philosophy classes here at Tennessee Wesleyan. Dr. Naff has credited his devoted and supportive spouse as being a significant ingredient of the successes he has enjoyed as minister and college administrator. awilHBHMIHHrtmjMI 1 E Hfci_- i H Jl 1 1 J •■O V ] AT LEAST SOMEBODY ' S ORGANIZED AROUND HERE. Three years ago Mr. and Mrs. Bill Gribben found their way to Tennessee Wesleyan College where Mr. Gribben began his long awaited and much longed for teaching career. His wife Sydney became a Reference Assistant in our library. Before coming to TWC Mr. Gribben developed an outstanding professional background working in numerous locations in various media situations, including a time with NBC in Washington, DC. Although he accomplished much and was very successful throughout his career, teaching was his dream. As his dream was realized here at TWC, which he truly adored enjoying its small, familiar, family-type atmosphere, he became an outstanding and caring teacher who never ceased to amaze and inspire his students with his knowledge and enthusiasm. He had great pride in our college and its students which ' was apparent in his every smile, action, and conversation. Being the special person that he was, he found his way into many hearts and touched many lives; therefore, his absence creates an empty space within our hearts and on our campus. Even though he is no longer here to assist us, he would definitely want us to proceed with pride and continue to reach for our dreams and goals. Through our memories of him and through the knowledge he imparted to us he will continue to be a part of us, influencing and affecting our lives for years to come. 110 Graduation ' 84 mm - in Mumtramirarnimmr A Closing Note M vrm
