At the 1979 Sports Banquet awards were given to Chris Cattaneo, Best Offensive Player; Jorge Fuchs, Best Defensive Player; and Jim Penney, The Hustle Award. Chris earlier in the year was chosen to play for the Atlanta Chiefs. Congratulations to an outstanding TWC soc- cer team. 49 Vk JLojmd off Sl (j Jiolhw 50 Halloween Arts And Crafts Carnival Every year the Athens Community sponsors an Arts and Crafts Carnival on Halloween. Various clubs and organizations from TWC set up booths at this carnaval. This year the carnival ran two nights, and everyone will tell you it was a suc- cess. ii You ' re A Good Man, Charlie Brown. The College Choir was responsible for the TWC production of You ' re a Good Man. Charlie Brown . Al- though the cast was small, with only six people appearing on stage, every member of the Choir was at work behind the scenes. -I 52 Members of the cast were Karen Higgins as Peppermint Patty, Mike Jackson as Linus, Tim Perrin as Scliroeder, Tim Porter as Charlie Brown, and Melanie Wert as Lucy. Charlie Currin was the pianist. 53 The Christmas season was celebrated in early December when the faculty staff members of TWC and the men of TWC were invited to the girls ' dorm for an OPEN HOUSE! Everyone had fun, and the girls worked hard in cleaning their rooms in hopes that a special male person would visit. Christmas Fun! Mrs. Anderson has fun opening a Christmas gift from her girls . 54 A Christmas cake? At least that ' s what it meant for the 1979 TWC choir which spent a week singing its way through Virginia, D.C., and Maryland. 64 iii rm!li..i 65 Greek Field Day And Greek Bowl • . f ' l l mQ i _• --- i i P Ml 1 n if M 66 X ' Good competition, good food, and good fellowship meant fun for the Greeks at Wesleyan April 20th. Greek Field Day consisting of such events as the egg toss, the three-legged race, and arm wrestling was won by Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity and the Sig Ep little sisters. First place trophies for the Greek Bowl went to Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity and Sigma Kappa Sorority. Judges for the two events were Charlie Bellows and Brenda Paul for field day and David Duncan and Jeffrey Folks for Greek Bowl. 67 68 t Spring Brings Baseball Season P s IH I PV J bai 9 H H 0 n -i . - 69 Spirits were high as the TWC baseball team finished an- other excellent season. Among the honors the team brought to TWC were that Coach Norfleet and Randy Reed were chosen to participate in the International World Cup Series; Reed and John Mitchell received an honorable mention on the Ail- American squad; and Tim Rader was named to the NAIA Academic Ail-American squad. 70 71 .1 i 72 9JI § §f 73 Senior Reception And Graduation MB June 8 and 9 were special days for TWCs 1979 gradu- ates. The night of the eighth they were entertained by the choir and various small groups within the music de- partment at a reception giv- en in their honor. The next day was graduation day, a day to which each senior had looked forward with both anticipation and sad- ness. 74 Commencement awards for the highest overall GPA in the graduating class were given to Melanie Wert and Benny Matherly. The Town- send Awards, given to the seniors chosen as most re- presentative of Tennessee Wesleyan, were given to Melanie Wert and Judd Da ugherty. 75 76 ' ' ha .Ji .
