Wesleyan Cheerleaders Although The Curious Savage marked the debut on the Wesleyan stage for most cast members, the play by John Patrick was hailed as a great success. Savage was the first presentation of the 71-72 season by the Speech and Theater Department. It presented a thought-provoking theme by contrasting the residents of The Cloisters with the insane out- side world. The spirit of this play is best ex- emplified by its most-remembered quote: For as Bryon says, . . . 66 1 1 L 1 j H I ' I 1 I- i 1 4 ■-- « 1 « „ Js... Five girls and seven boys participated in this exciting, fun-filled learning experience. They spent valuable time during their Christmas vacation reading Shakespeare, Dickens, -. Thackeray, and Milton so that they could better appreciate London and the surrounding countryside. During the first three weeks of the tour, the students visited famous landmarks arid delved into the history of America ' s mother country. The last week took some to Amsterdam, Holland, others to Dublin, Ireland, and still others to Switzerland. Fond memories are indelibly stamped on the minds of the fortunate twelve. The pageant culminated in mid-March after many weeks of practice by the ten contestants and preparations by the Circle K club, which sponsored event. Before an anxious audi- ence in Townsend Auditorium, Denise displayed her expert musicianship with a keyboard presentation of the theme from the Summer of 42. Runners-up were Celeste Whipple and Debby Bi- ble, who also received the Judges ' Talent Award. Accompanied by Sam Ware, Debby belted out a familiar rendition of Frankie and Johnny. Effervescent Linda Temple received the Congeniality Award, decided by the contestants themselves. iMnumttamn 105 108 110 111 m Z y-f , ,+Z ; 112 113 Music Department Pf0SentS The Sound of Music 114 T . 3 115 116 117 Of 118  .i. i y, tf 119 122 123 Larry Barker Kathy Bason Barry Bertolette Barbara Ann Briggs 126 Hugh Brown Laura Brown Richard Bryant 128 129 Bob Dick Billie Elrod 130 Don Deetrick Joel Dunlap Paulette E.
