RELIGIOUS Jnfl uence Religious meetings and activities play an important part in campus life at Tennessee Wesleyan. Four religious clubs are active: The Christian Service Club, the Y. M.-Y. W., The Wesleyan Youth Felowship — formerly known as the Queen Esthers — and The Life Ser vice Volunteers, a group of twenty- five students planning to enter full-time Christian service in various fields. The presidents and vice-presidents of these clubs together with two faculty members, compose the Religious Council, which serves to direct the religious program as a whole. Each year the first week in February is set aside as Re- ligious Emphasis Week, and a minister from the conference is invited to conduct on the campus a concentrated program of religious activity. The entire college program strives to make the general atmosphere as Christian as possible, and the large number of students who are each year inspired to enter and pre- pared to live fully a life of Christian service, attests to the success of this effort.

21109 J he y i ndpira ' p tlo n 4 MUSIC AND DRAMA Robert Haven Schauffler once said, It takes three to take music: one to create, one to perform, one to appreci- ate. And who can tell which is the most important? From its earliest forms, music has always been the ex- pression of man ' s inner being. A love for make-believe, a desire to be amused, and a natural instinct on the part of man to express his feelings are the roots from which music has grown from its primitive stages to Its complex develop- ment of the last few centuries. Interest In the great treasures of our musical heritage is keenly alive today. Its value to the individual lies in its fulfillment of man ' s need for inspiration and beauty. To create, to perform, to appreciate — dare we say that one of these holds more value than the other? MERNER - PFEIFI-ER LiBKAKY TENf ESSEE WESLEYAN COLLEGE ATHENS, TENNESSEE MRS.
