You should be proud of your accomplishments. We are proud of you. Although St. Luke’s Hospital became a clinical campus three years ago, we are one of the oldest Temple University School of Medicine affiliated hospitals. St. Luke’s Hospital is a full service institution and a level I trauma center. We have won numerous national awards and recognition for patient care. We have also been designated three years in a row as one of the top 100 Best Places to Work in Pennsylvania. A significant part of our mission is the education of physicians at all levels (undergraduate, graduate, and post-graduate-CME) as well as nurses and allied health professionals. I Temple University School of Medicine Clinical Campus Class of 2009 Crozcr-Keystone Health System is proud to affiliate with the Temple University School of Medicine to educate the caregivers of tomorrow. More specifically, it has been our pleasure to work with the students who arc completing their clinical training this year. On behalf of all Crozer-Keystone faculty members, I extend our sincere congratulations to you. Crozcr-Kcystonc is one of the largest health systems in the Delaware Valley, consisting of five hospitals, several outpatient centers, a health club and a comprehensive physician network. We offer our community a Level II trauma center; a regional bum center, two regional cancer centers; a sleep-disorders program; a wound care center with hyperbaric medicine; comprehensive maternity services, including intensive care and maternal fetal medicine; advanced cardiac, musculoskeletal, surgical, medical imaging and senior-based services; and much more. As they train, Croier-Keystone students have the opportunity to use the SUSAN X ILLI AMS, M.D health system’s cutting-edge facilities and participate in our renowned elm- Director of Medical Education teal programs. We have been fortunate to receive numerous honors, including being named among the nations “most wired” and “most integrated health systems by national publications; earning VHA awards for our commitment to community health and patient safety; and receiving the American Hospital Association's Leadership Award for our evidence-based medicine program. We also continue to enjoy having the main campus students join us for their required and elective rotations. The campus at West Penn Hospital continues to be one of Pittsburgh’s leading teaching facilities and has attracted medical students from across the country. West Penn Hospital has earned an international reputation for excellence and innovation in the care of patients, education and research. In 20()6, The Western Pennsylvania Hospital was awarded Magnet Recognition™ status from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), the first hospital in Pittsburgh and western Pennsylvania to achieve this prestigious designation for excellence in nursing services. The ANCC is the nation's largest and foremost nursing credentialing organization and the 4-year Magnet designation is the highest level of recognition that the ANCC can extend to healthcare organizations. In 2008. for the second year in a row. The Western Pennsylvania Hospital was named one of the country's 100 Top Hospitals® for cardiovascular care, based on the results of the 2008 Cardiovascular Benchmarks for Success Study. The study, commissioned by Thomson Reuters, examined the performance of almost 1.000 U.S. hospitals based on clinical outcomes for patients diagnosed with heart failure and heart attacks and for those who received coronary- bypass surgery' and angioplasties. West Penn is one of 30 teaching hospitals with cardiovascular residency programs, and one of only two teaching hospitals in western Pennsy lvania, named to the Top 100 list. Elliot B.
