 Frosh confused, lost; soon grew, matured When they first stepped on the campus, they were as confused as all of the Freshmen classes who had preceded them. They couldn’t find where their classes were, they got harrassed by upperclassmen, and some even bought elevator passes. Probably one of the biggest problems was carrying all of their books around all day until the new locker area was finished and they could be issued lockers. The world started looking brighter, however, after a few weeks. The class elected officers and sponsored its first dance, a rousing success. They continued to grow into the spirit of Tempe High. Their football team set new records. They attended pep rallies and dances in greater numbers than was expected. They were enthusiastic, eager and very capable. Through the year the class held a variety of fund raisers, hoping to finish with more money in the bank than other Freshmen classes. As the year ground to an end, the class looked forward to no longer being the newest group on campus. But they were proud of the fact that they could look back and say, “Wow! We really had a blast! We’re good! The Freshmen Class Officers.
