We Got Spirit, Yes We Do! We GotSpirii How About You? What gives you an opportunity to show off, catch up on your sleep, finish your homework and get out of class? A pep rally at a school with an apathetic attitude. And Tempe High students had a reputation of being fans who rode with a winner and forgot a loser. Our primary spirit goal was to erase that reputation. Despite the hard work of many individuals and organizations, we nearly didn’t make it. Remember after the Marcos football game? There was hardly anyone at the next game against Saguaro. But the spirit groups stuck with it and we finally decided to hang in there with our teams, win or lose. Among the most spirited organizations were Pom and Cheer, who painted signs, decorated hallways and locker rooms, made spirit boxes and performed skits at pep rallies, and the Buff Band who was always there, always whooping it up, and always letting the world know that the Buffs had Spirit! The Buff Varsity bursts through a Cheer-constructed Runthrough' the beginning of the Corona game. Excited students race onto the field to form a corridor of fans for the football team to run through on their return to the field for the second half of the Casa Grande game. Juniors Steve Lewis, J.J. Auerbach and Rob Bracy are not t amused about the call the referee just made. 20 - Student Life
