THE BOARD OF EDUCATION is made up of five men who are elected by the voters on a rotating basis with each member serving five years. Headed by Joe Ramsey, these men serve as an important link between the voters and parents and the ad- ministration. With Frank Reeves as secretary, they decide school policy with Superintendent Franklin J. Benedict at their monthly meetings. MEMBERS OF THE BOARD OF EDUCATION are Mr. Laurence Carr, Mr. Thomas Owens, Mr. Joe G. Ramsey, President, Dr. R. W. McMillan and Mr. Frank Reeves, Secretary. - 10 -

DEDICATION TO TEACH is a demanding vocation, yet annually thousands enter this field. Many aban- don their career in education after a relatively short time; others remain all their working lives. As in any other walk of life, there are those who are outstanding for the devotion, interest and work they consistently give to their jobs. Tempe High School is privileged to have not one, but three such people. Upon their retire- ment at the end of this year, our school will miss the benefit of their knowledge and wisdom gained through many years of service. The Horizon staff, speaking for many pre- ceding generations of TUHS students, for the present student body and for the entire com- munity, wishes to dedicate the 1960 yearbook to Miss Roberta Craig, Mrs. Zella Row and Mr. Jerald Walsh and to thank them for hav- ing made Tempe their teaching home. MISS ROBERTA CRAIG, veteran of more than thirty years teaching ex- perience, is always willing to assist a student with his work. Here, she aids Henry Kirk with a trig problem. COUNTLESS HOURS Ixrfore and after school have been spent by Mrs. Zella Row in helping her math students. MR. JERALD WALSH has taught nearly every subject in the school at one time or another and has instilled an interest and knowledge of Creccc and Rome in thousands of students.
