Good evening ladies and gentlemen. This is station WDBC, Tekonsha, Michigan. I'm Inez Fousel with the evening news on May 29th, 1989.
David Swick has begun his fourth expedition to the moon in search of ruins left my Martians, who, he seems to believe, were stationed there centuries ago to observe the earth. Dr. Tom Hampton, head of the psychiatric ward of Greenfield Hospital, is accompanying Mr. Swick on his journey. Dr. Hampton feels the last 3 excursions have been too much for poor David. Archeologist John Winter, who has accompanied David on his last 3 journeys has announced his intentions to remain on earth to search for the remains of California, said to have sunk approximately 20 years ago. Craig Leatherbury was just launched to the moon to begin peace talks with the blimps concerning the dust riots.
Now for news of the nation:
Richard Stuart, big game hunter, today returned from a trip to Australia bearing a live dodo bird, supposedly extinct for over 5000 years. When asked what he intended to do with it, he shook his head in bewilderment and replied, "I don't even know what it is." Janet Camp, by now famous for her rendition of "The Highwayman, " is traveling on a tour of the United States entertaining school children. Shari Bond, who has her own TV show in New York, now commutes every other day in her private plane to the Philippine Islands where she plays in a combo. She alternates between baritone saxophone, ukulele, and harmonica. Karole Wallen was just appointed as school mistress of Wallen's Water Wonderland, a training school for mermaids for deep sea exploration. Suzanne Jordon, noted for her beautiful soprano voice, gave another excellent concert at the London Palladium today, accompanied on the harp by Owen Drudge. After the concert, wealthy playboy Jim Lindsey took the performers on a world cruise on his million dollar yacht. They were last seen heading for open sea. Just before embarking, navigator Terry Raginia was heard to ask, "Does starboard mean left or right?"
On the local scene:
Jeff Sherwood, who has just completed preparations for his third brain transplant, said today at a press conference, "I have a feeling it may be a success this time. " Nancy Jackson, head of the CIA, today announced she was giving up active service due to poor eyesight. She went on to explain that whenever she got excited, her contact lenses popped out. Later, as reporters were filing out of the press room, she shrieked, "Nobody move!" The contact lense was found an hour later. Ray Ball,Continued
whose hobby has recently changed from collecting antique cars to outmoded satellites, held an auction of his cars today. The auctioneer, Janet Jones, kept up a hot pace, selling over 200 cars in 3 hours. Unfortunately, she also sold Ray's 1988 Cadillac before he could stop her. Cheryl Hughes, featured cage dancer at the PSychout Discoteque, was admitted to Mason Hospital yesterday following a minor accident when Miss Hughes' cage was jarred loose by a slight earth tremor. She was badly shaken, but not seriously injured. Patti Smith, Dean of Women at the University of Hawaii, has been having problems lately keeping the grass skirts at a decent length. A new feature of the Playboy Magazine is Cindi Reincke's Recipes for Exotic Salads. Jackie Miller Weed, famed authoress, has had another book published. This latest is a textbook of poetry. In an interview early this morning, we asked her how long it had taken her to write this book. She replied, "Longer than I had planned; 1 had Duane type it. " Brenda Lloyd, nationally known for her clothes designing, has come up with the latest in fashion. Short, flared pants for boys are the 'in' thing now. This most recent creation was modeled by Keith Shedd. Scientist-Inventor Lester Shaffer, has come up with a revolutionary idea: a convertible motorcycle with windshield wipers. Lester says all he has to do now is find a way of putting a rain-proof skirt around it to keep the legs and feet dry. Baptist minister Fred Cooley announced today he would back draft card burners. When questioned as to his reasons, he replied, "God said to love one another. He also said Thou shalt not kill. In other words brothers and sisters, make love, not war. " Diane Doolittle, professional race car driver, proved today that women are superior even on the track by whipping all competition and winning the Indianapolis 500. Seven contestants were wiped out, however, when Diane failed to signal a lane change.
Well, that’s it for the news. Now I'd like to present Suzanne Jordon singing "The Impossible Dream" accompanied by Jackie Miller.
