PRESIDENTS ADDRESS ON CLASS DAY Mr Drv, Parents, Facultv, Friends On behalf of the Class of 43 I wish to welcome vou to this, our Class Dav program W e are honored to have vou as our guests on this memorable occasion and we smcerelv hope that vou will enjov these cere monies As we retrace the four vears spent at Tech, we pause to glve a vote of thanks to a great number of people To our parents we extend our most sincere gratitude for the generositv thev have shown us W e cannot fully express our appreclatlon in words alone, for thev in themselves have little meaning, we can onlv hope that our llves as men will prove that thelr sacrifices have not been in valn To our teachers we are deeplv grateful In the past four vears we have profited bv their unselfish mstruc tion, wise guidance and lcmdlv discipline Thev have taught us so that we mav be more fullv able to occupv our places ln the world of tomorrow As we prepare to leave either to don Uncle qam s umforms or to occupv a place on the assemblv lme, we want to assurc vou that the ideals vou have instilled m us will be ever fore most in our minds To those friends who have encouraved us throughout our four vears of companionship with them, we sav Hall and farewell To all of vou, then, we real17e our depth of gratitude, a depth which has enabled us to complete twelve years of education, which in Itself IS a great stride forward on the long Journev of the road to success We only hope that some dav, in a more fitting wav, we shall have proved ourselves worthv ROBLRT H MII I FR '99 VALEDICTORY Soon on an occasion not dissimilar to this flass Dav, we Seniors will realwe the fulfillment of our hopes as Freshmen four vears ago, to graduate from this school, our Alma Mater The theme of this farewc ll might well be W hlle wc read hlstorv , great hlstorv wasm the making, for we spent the four Great W ar vears in school preparing to take our parts ln the W orld of Tomor row Now as the termination of our high school carccr approaches, we are grateful for these four vears will have been won bv so much blood and sac rlfice Wfith this bulwark we face the future whatever lts vicissitudes, devoid of anv apprehension In former vears, cornmc ncemc nt classes were speculative as to entering collcge or mdustrv ln the present dav our immediate futures have bec n dc tc rmlnecl bv Destmv Most of us will replace the lmplements of education with the accoutrements of war lhis metamorphosls will require the characters and alert minds our school has so admlrablv aided ln developing Our education will continue, not from teachers and textbooks, it will be derived from experience strange and sharp and sometimes bitter, which will rapldlv mature our vouth into manhood Mav Divine Guidance carrv us through whatever of trlal this future mav hold, with fortitude, honor, dlgnltv and valor W e are glad to be graduating, but lt is with regret that we leave these pleasant halls where we gathered memorles of care free davs filled with gav friendships and lov al mentors Learning laid her gifts before us, a heritage whose fehcltv has been denied to so manv of our generatlon ln less happv lands In this countrv, vouth has been cherished which is the first of manv debts of gratitude which it IS fitting for us to acknowledge To our parents who have provided us with these twelve vears of education we tender deep ap preclation, for of all the gifts possible to bestow, onlv that of education is permanent Monev or possessions can be lost but training of the mmd remains through life and development of character is an lmperlshable Jew el Our parents have trusted this schooling to the facultv, a prudent, vigorous, understanding group, whose ambition for us has sometimes driven us to greater zeal than we desired now ln our dav of success we are grateful for their ardor to instill hablts of order, decorum and learning Tech has given us four fine vears and the ties formed here cannot be severed bv time or space To whatever places Pate will chrect us the memories, the ideals garnered here will be a part of us, of what we are, of what we do ALGLST A BRL N0 I J ' 9 -1 Q. . g Y 1 - q Y .Y t ,4 A V .
