Concerts Two concerts are presented each year by the band which is directed by Mr. Myers and the chorus and Concert Choir, under Mr. Murphy. The first is the Christmas Concert which spot- lights both religious and popular music. In April the Spring Concert presents a wide variety of music to appeal to all tastes. These two events have become popular traditions at Tech. At the end of the year the band and the choruses per- form at graduation.

Science Fair The annual Tech High Science Fair took place on March 16 and March 17. This year’s Fair was under direction of Mr. Curran, chairman of the Science De- partment, and Mr. Hopkins, chairman of the event. The judges included teachers from schools in the Springfield area, who select- ed winners in each of the five categories. Winners in the field of mathematics were Ted Sotiropoulos, Solutions of Cubic Equations, first place; and Rich Bedard, Geometrics, second place. In the life sciences category, winners were George Eliopoulos, A Possible Role of Anaxia in Chemoprhey-Laxtis Against Radiation, first place; Jeff Davidson, A Photomicro- graphic Study of the Submaxillary Gland, second place; and John Louvitakis, The Hering Theory: Color vs. Color. Honor- able mention went to James Porter for Physiological and Biological Effects of R- F Energy. Chemistry winners were George Prov- idakes, Stain Corrosion, first prize; Jeff Steinberg, Electrochemical quivalent Measures, second prize; and James Bator, The Bohr Theory, third prize. Both Mi- chael Bozek, for his project entitled The Law of Duong and Petits, and Ed Roccan- ti, for his project, Sodium Compounds, were awarded honorable mention. Physics winners were Gary St. Peter, Low Speed Boundary Layers, first place, Mark Brus, The Influence of the Krushnic Effect on Rocket Engine Thrust, second pie and Sam Johnston, Multi-Purpose esting Chamber, third place. There were three students who received honorable mention: Paul Crescenzo, A Study of the Moon Through Astrophotography; Steve Graziano, pOCLOPLaD y Exposure; and Peter Badmajian, The Seismograph. Winners in electronics were Harold Et- terman, The Gas Laser, first prize; Larry Pidgeon, Logic Machines, second prize; and Gary Bianchi, Auto Burglar Alarm, third prize. A special award each year by the West- ern Mass. Heart Association for the best project concerning circulation. This prize, a $10 check, was divided between Ann Hogan, Physiology of the Heart, and Do- reen Lyons, Hearts. 12
