As we mirror our last three years at Tech, we will remember our able leader Mr. Gifford and his two assistants Mr. Lynch and Mr, Jackson. We will also recall the counselors, who were instru- mental in guiding our paths at Tech, and the effi- cient office staff, without whom the school's adminis - tration would not be able to function, The combined efforts of all these devoted people have helped to make Tech the superior school that IE LS ae , Ge, S Se Ree ee

Dedication Dr. M. Marcus Kiley Itis withthe pride and affection held bysons anddaughters fora wonderful father that the students of Technical High School dedicate their 1963 TIGER to Dr. M. Marcus Kiley, retired deputy superintendent of the Springfield Public Schools and principal of Tech from 1940 to 1949. We know that other fine leaders preceded Dr. Kiley at Tech, but they were before our time. Here is the man associated in our minds with most of the causes for the out- standing reputation our school has made. As Principal Gifford sowell said: At first Tech was Mark, Mark was Tech. In fact, eventhough his scope has necessarily broadened in the past several years, one sus- pects that good secondary education and Tech are somewhat synonymous in his think- ing even today. Dr. Kiley came to Tech as a chemistry teacher in 1921, and became itceeets one principal in 1936. For forty years he dedicated himself to the welfare of the young peoplesomthisi city. Many of his ideals have been accepted far and wide across the nation. His devotion to mathematics and science has made Springfield a leader in these fields which are so important to present-day America. His standards were always high; his dislike for second-rate effort evident to all who knew him. Tech will always remember and honor Dr. Kiley. Great faith he had in youthful hand and mind Working with God to benefit mankind. AS 38 38
