Hitting, defense are keys to diamond success Hitting and defense were the keys to the Titans ' success on the baseball diamond. A stronger infield and more depth at the plate and on the bench gave the Titans one of the best hitting teams in the school ' s history. Tony Gabriel and Dennis Bentzler anchored the defense. Each proved himself worthy by making some tough plays in key situations.
