Their job is to provide rapid, reliable, and secure communications from the highest command to the lone Destroyer on patrol. The Radiomen are responsible for a Wide variety of radio equipment and the Signalmen are the experts with Flashing Light which is often the sole link with a passing merchant ship. 'F , 1 A g fi , x af M DIVISION consists of the Machinist Mates a.nd it is their primary job to maintain the ship's main propulsion machinery which includes the main propulsion turbines, reduction gears, evaporators, low pressure air compressor, and all of the associated pumps, valves, regulators, and steam lines necessary to move the TAUSSIG to its next assignment at high speeds. Machinist Mates are called many names, among them are greasy snipes, black gang thieves, and several that can't be men- tioned, especially when they lose fresh water suctiona half hour before liberty call, or blow tubes during personnel inspection. Standing straight.... ....standing tall.

The Sonarmen detect the silent, deadly approach of the enemy submarine and the words sonar contact send the Torpedomen and the DASH handlers to work preparing the fish and the bird to deliver the punch with Bloodhound Away and DASH Airborne .
