The last two weeks fof June and the first two weeks of July were filled with a variety of missions to test the versatility of the All-Purpose Destroyer. After providing ASW and Plane Guard services for the USS CONSTELLATION the TAUSSIG proceeded to the Southern Search and Rescue Station a mere 25 miles from the North Vietnamese shore where one of our primary duties was to refuel helicopters stationed off the coast waiting for a call to rescue a downed pilot. This new concept called In-Flight Refueling was easily mastered by the men of the Taussig. Below, Helo number 62 hovers over the Taussig's helo deck to pick up the refueling hose. At right, Ensign Seder and Gunners Mate Chief Hundley en- joy the sun while standing watch in the Gun Director.
