After a brief re-fueling stop in Midway Island on the first of May the Taussig proceeded to Guam for a ten day availability at the Repair Facility. Then, after a 24 hour ASW exercise with one of the Navy's newest Fleet Ballistic Submarines, the Taussig proceeded to Subic Bay to receive last minute preparations before the first assignment of Naval Gunfire Support which was to be the primary duty of the Seventh F1eet's number one Greyhound.
